Great reports, Cool. Thanks! I'm really glad I didn't have the chance to see this game. :)

I feel bad that Cool got blue-balled by the Wolves last night.

My worst part of the game is different from all of yours. I came home from a function at about 9 looking forward to enjoying the DVRd game (my Wolves' owner friend was there too, and we shared our optimism about the opener as we were saying good night). Unfortunately, the game "timed out" with about 90 seconds left in the game right after KAT had hit a long shot (they were reviewing to see if it was a three pointer as my screen went black). I uttered an expletive and then went to the ESPN website to get the final results, and I uttered a louder expletive when I saw they lost (sorry neighbors). Early season rookie mistake by me...gotta remember to DVR the show after the game too rather than just the game to make sure this doesn't happen again. Oh well...both the Wolves and I have to improve.
Yes, KAT didn't have his best game...he didn't rebound well, and took some ill-advised shots when teammates were open. But the guy is so good, his stat line was still very good...21-4-5 on efficient shooting. I think he is poised for an incredible sophomore year.
Here's the most depressing part of the night for me...Thibs was outcoached by some guy I've never heard of before. And that just can't happen if we have any hopes of making the playoffs. We got off to a ridiculously great start just based on athleticism and hot shooting (and a nod to some defensive concepts Thibs has drilled into them). But after the first 5 minutes, I saw no difference between this team and last year's Mitchell-coached team...the same lack of ball movement and inability to defend the perimeter (a 24 to 18 3-point deficit is worse than our average from last year). There were several times I was screaming at the TV for Thibs to call a timeout, but he choose to let Memphis get back in the game by "letting them play". Maybe he needs to shake the rust off after a year off.
This is a game we should have won, and now we have to travel to Sac-town to play a talented team that just won in Phoenix by 19. Target Center just isn't going to be as much fun next Wednesday if we come home 0-2.
Nice thought on the former LST, thank you. The problem with the 2nd bold point is that the stat line was basically complete after the 1st quarter. I kept waiting for him to pour it on in the 2nd half, and he just didn't seem to have it. I have no doubt someone will have to pay, probably sooner than later.

My 2+1
Didn't like that we lost
Didn't like that we didn't have Jeff Adrien when we needed him
I liked how we played the first 7 or 8 minutes of the game

Agree with the 2+1 for the most part. On blowing the lead, to me this was a little different in that it all happened so early in the game. It's one thing to go into the 2nd half or 4th quarter with a commanding lead. It's another to do it 5 minutes into the game. There is A LOT of time to make up that ground and the 3-point shot is the great equalizer.
It still sucks though. There was literally no wrong we could do and it was fun to watch. Then Memphis started getting stops and made every damn 3-pointer they took - something like 6 or 7 straight 3's made. That was just a killer.

Who would have thought Memphis front court would hit like 50% of their 3's? MEMPHIS hitting 3's. Gasol and Randolph hitting 3's. Wut? I mean I am not shocked those guys that have nice shooting strokes but still.

I agree, big leads don't necessarily mean what they did 10 years ago, and when you have an entire game to chip away it makes a difference. It's still disturbing to lose in that fashion after making a habit of it last year.

I guess this is the problem with having legitimate expectations for the first time in a decade, the team throws out a stinker and I get pissed.
LST mentioned how they started out running and playing defense but then degenerated into Sam Mitchell's Wolves and I agree. Having had a night to sleep off the initial frustration I don't think this is surprising as those habits had all of last year to set in, and for those players who were here the year before Flip wasn't all that much better. I think right now they're thinking too much because Thibs plays aren't second nature yet. I believe once things start to go wrong they begin to react based on instinct, instinct instilled by Sam's coaching, thus it's going to take a while for Thibs to overwrite those instincts with his own.
One frustration that a good night of sleep did not relieve, missed free throws. Both Rubio and Wiggins missed both free throws once, that is just absurd for anyone not called Shaq. If you're Rubio and offensively challenged you best own the free throw line, and if you're Wiggins and have any thoughts of becoming a top ten type of player, a legitimate piece in a big three, you absolutely CANNOT miss two free throws late in a close game. Maybe it's just the pressure of actual expectations, but even so the pressure that goes with them will only increase, get your shit together boys!
Edit: One thing that did not disappoint, the 2+1 is back! Did you see that Lip, I hope you follow Cool's lead and don't slack on those home game reports!! :D

I gotta +1... Thibs first season with the Bulls started with a loss. They went on to win 62 games! :)
