Monster - Wade is a tough matchup for anyone. But there is nothing about Wade's size that makes him a particularly tough matchup for LaVine. Wade is the type of SG that LaVine should be expected to guard at some point.

It's the strength Wade plays with that's the issue that I am looking at. In addition he always has played bigger than whatever size he is.

NBA positions aren't set offensively. It's by who you can guard defensively.

Idk, I think maybe more in the NBA of the present that is less true. Playing small ball isn't exactly about defensive match-ups but a lot of teams have started doing it to offensively overpower bigger, slower lineups with a fast paced movement offense. I do agree with the idea of it, though. I just question that if it is Sam's idea, wouldn't putting out a larger more offensive minded player out there make more sense for his vision?

I just think the whole "Wiggins being more aggressive" talk is just nonsense. Him trying to be more aggressive leads to a lot of bad, forced shots that he's not used to. "kobe ball" is going away. I would much rather have a system like the Spurs Hawks or Warriors that pretty much swings the ball to the open guy to make shots. Guys like Curry,Parker,Kwawi still gets there's in that system. Problem is, you have a lot of dead weight in KG and Prince, who can't make shots, so now Wiggins has to take at least some dumb shots to keep the offense going

I like the idea of playing "small ball" with big players. What I mean is that we have some guys that are big, yet fleet of foot enough to stay with opposing smaller lineups. Rubio has really filled out since he was a rookie and he is a legitimately big and strong PG these days. But he moves his feet about as well as anyone in the league too. Wiggins is super long for a 2. Shabazz and Prince are "standard" sized 3's I'd say, in their own way. Then you have Belly or KG at the 4 and KAT especially at the 5. That is a big AND mobile lineup.

All things being equal, go with the bigger players.....

Wait until Pek is healthy and we roll out the Rubio/Wiggins/Bjelica/Towns/Pek lineup.

All things are never equal. So there's no escaping the difficult task of identifying the best overall player - i.e., the player who in conjunction with the others on the court gives your team the best chance to win. For a rebuilding team like the Wolves, the task is even more challenging - i.e., identifying the player most likely to enhance the team's chance of winning as a player 1-3 years down the road.

I'm ok starting and giving limited minutes to KG and Prince for now. And I recognize that Prince played well in his 39 minutes against the Bulls. But sometime relatively soon this season, Sam has to allocate most of the Prince minutes and his starting role to LaVine, Shabazz or both because of their obvious talent and the fact that they have the potential to be major contributors to this team down the road. Perhaps the same goes for KG if Belly continues to shine as he did against the Bulls.

I have really liked the way Lavine has looked playing with Rubio. I hope we see a lot more of that soon.

I don't know, Lip. I am a big fan of Sam giving Rubio, Wiggins and KAT the chance to establish themselves as the three cornerstones without throwing someone as mistake-prone and wildly inconsistent as Zach or Bazz into the mix.

I agree Belly seems the closest to joining those three. He almost already is with the limited minutes KG is playing, and the likely missed games he will be seeing in the near future. But I don't have a problem with KG starting the remainder of the year for a few token minutes as part of his farewell tour, not to mention he still adds something to the game.
