He's a guy that I like, though. In the mold of a Monta Ellis or Isaiah Thomas.

DX had him at 49 so I thought I would put him in my mix. Kind of the ain't Rubio because he scores and not horribly undersized. 93% on FT's.

Ford says Lakers will take him at 27.

If that's what you'd do as GM and if I were the owner I'd fire you (Alex). I'll take my chances with Flip any day and hope he's smart enough to draft Towns. Towns plus Rubio >>>> Russell plus WCS

Oops I just posted something in another thread that probably should have gone here. I've convinced myself that Russell at #1 coupled with a Rubio trade might not be a ridiculous idea. If Okafor continues to slide, I might really start to like it.

I wouldn't mind Towns, but Russell is going to be the next Harden. It also works into my second idea

2. Trade Rubio to the Kings for the 6th pick and filler.

I think this is best spot to trade Rubio. Kings might talk themselves into a Cousins-Rubio-Gay trio that could win some games. Wolves start over with Russell and free up some space as well.

3. With the 6th pick draft WCS.

Best defender in the draft. Can't score but that's ok with our wings.

4. Sign Bjelica to be the starting PF next year.

I know we have a million forwards on the team, but this guys the best one, so bring him over and let everything sort itself out.

5. Tell KG that your a bench guy playing 20 minutes, you'll be paid like one.

Nothing over 3 million for me. Take it or leave it. You can be a coach or special advisor or whatever, but we can't put too much thought into your role as a player

6. No trades to free up cap space or roster spots.

Yea Bennett, you make 7 million, but I don't care if you rot on the bench, it's only a year then your gone. I wanna let these guys walk, I don't care about the next 2 years. I know every team will have cap space by then, but I want to have even more when this core is ready.

7. Get Thibs at any cost.

Make him the highest paid coach in the league if you have to. There is just not another guy that's going to come around in the next few years that is as good as this guy. Sorry Flip. the next Pop isn't going to fall into you lap no matter how hard you believe.

So now I have a core of

Russell
Lavine
Wiggins
WCS

All under rookie deals and supplanted by enough vets like Martin, KG, and Pek, that will take enough of the pressure off these guys until they are ready. And when that time comes, you'll have the cap space to build a bench which was the downfall of the Love era.

You'll probably be bad enough to add another lottery pick next year to add even more.

Man I would make a pretty good GM

I've posted ways to make a Russell and WCS for Rubio and parts happen for a while now . It got shot down with authority! Maybe it's becuz I wear the Scarlett letter for my opinions on Ole Ricky Punto

I personally wouldn't trade Rubio for the chance to draft WCS because there are a couple concerns I have with WCS and I do like him but not if I have to give up too much and for me Rubio is too much despite his flaws. I have said that trading Rubio for #6 has merit though so don't misunderstand that Rubio is untouchable for me.

You'll forget all about WCS this time next year when you'll be begging for Cheick Diallo

A Cliff Alexander clone. Yep, I'll take Willie.

Shabazz for Justise Winslow. I'm all for that one. Towns, Dieng/Bjelica, Winslow, Wiggins and Rubio/Lavine would be crazy good.
