Well, we really don't have a choice for next season. I certainly wouldn't want to give up an asset just to get rid of one of them and no one is going to give up anything to get one of them. The best option for us on AB is to not pick up his option for 2016-17. While he might improve next season, will he improve to the point of being worth over $7M? I doubt it!

I'm sure Flip will pick up Payne's option, if for no other reason than it would make him look foolish to not pick up his option after just trading a 1st for him. He has much less political capital invested in AB, who was a throw-in to the Wiggins trade.

Q, I proposed a Bennett-for-Calderon swap in the "Play GM" thread and listed my reasons why. I actually think that trade could work for both teams.

Cam, right idea with AB for Calderon, but here is my problem with Calderon. Over the past 4 seasons, on a variety of teams and in a variety of roles, his team has always been better with him on the bench versus in the game. And the primary driver behind that is defense. His nice outside touch and generally solid floor game as a PG simply isn't enough to overcome the pathetic defense that he plays. In fact, he might be a worse defender than Kmart, without the great efficiency on offense (even though he's a decent shooter, he can't get to the FT line anymore).

I might actually be more willing to hang onto LoBrown for cheap than get locked into Calderon for two more years at his price. And it's no guarantee that we will be able to unload him after next season. He's aging quickly....

Remember, the Wolves gave up a 1st to unload Wes Johnson and he had proven A LOT more than Anthony Bennett has. There was no harm in getting him into the Wiggins/Love trade. It would have been awesome if it panned out.

After one terrible season and one "lost" season, I don't see it ending well. But, hey... at least there was some improvement.

Abe I don't disagree with you but I will say Wes Proved he sucked and AB has been hurt (lack of opportunity) and is only 21 so I could see some team getting more excited about him than Wes because of that P word. Not holding my breath at all on that but I think you know what I am getting at. I would be curious what we could have ever gotten for Derrick Williams after his rookie year we will never know but I never thought the return was great enough to move him. Turns out I was wrong. lol

Derrick Williams is another example. He'd proven a helluva lot more on the court than Anthony Bennett. And it resulted in Luc Mbao a Moute.

Blame it on injuries or bad play... the point is that Bennett couldn't be shopped for a #1 pick at this point.

Didn't know we had 2 early 2nd rounders, that makes for a potential good trade.

Lets hope AB has another good summer. He looks good for team Canada and the 3rd time is the charm for him.

Like using one as ammo for swapping picks with the Sixers if need be.

We will have the 1st and 6th picks in the second round. I will puke if Flip sells either one for cash!! Keep both or package both to move up into the first round. Or keep one and use the other on a Euro stash. But don't sell either for cash!!!!

But we need the cash to pay the coach.
