Or (gasp), Q is wrong in his assessment.

LST, you really lobbed a soft ball in here to be jumped all over. But i'm going to take the high road this time and let it go.

No, the high road is no fun...take the low road!

I don't think anything I said was untrue. When Carlos tabulates the results, they are going to be quite a bit more favorable toward Flip the PBO than I would have thought. While one might argue that homerism is impacting some of the votes, I would ask this...why does the board seem to be equally united in concluding Flip has not been a very good coach this year and needs to be replaced? No homerism there. That leads me to conclude that this board is both educated and balanced in its assessment of Flip. Out-of-step and not very good coach, but a very successful PBO.

But who hired the coach?

Good point, q. I think we should keep in mind that carlos' exercise is designed to see how we evaluate Flip as a trader, not to give him an overall grade...because free agency and coaching decisions drag his grade down in my estimation.

I don't agree, though, with your conclusion that a teams' performance in one season is the ultimate arbiter of evaluating a PBO's performance. This remarkable chart may offer a more compelling reason for the Wolves' woes this season. Look at where the red and green dots are clustered, and how lonely the Wolves are in this graphic

I was referring to specifically what was in bold. Q's been wrong quite a bit lately.

Maybe.

But what's funny is that when a guy like q criticizes a player... or team... he gets ripped quickly when that player does something well. But he's not allowed to have it both ways.

"How dare you criticize [xxxx] under any context. It's too soon."

Considering that Q is not an "I told you so" type of poster (after all, how many of us are saving files from 2004 - 2014 where we were proven right with takes on guys like McCants, Avery, Flynn, Beasley, Darko, et al and were told repeatedly we were wrong or weren't being fair?) Everybody on this site has been wrong. Some people dwell on it and act like an asshole by throwing it in people's faces. Kudos for those who don't do that.

By the way... Q was closest to picking the Wolves record this season. Very few others were even close. "Stupid fuckers, they were so wrong. What fucking idiots!!!"

Ha, as we all are sometimes! I was just trying to drag you down to the low road with me.

The last time I was wrong here was when I let Cam talk me into Thad's value when we acquired him. Heyooo!!

p.s. sorry Cam but I had to do it.

See how much more fun the low road can be, cool?

Welcome, doper!

Calling someone out for being wrong keeps the board real. Otherwise it's just a bunch of know it all's saying whatever they want without the risk of culpability. I've been called out several times. I have strong opinions, Q has strong opinions, Lip has strong opinions, Cam has strong opinions, and YOU and several others have the same. And honestly, it hasn't been the best year for you in terms of being accurate either. Maybe that's why you come so hard in defending Q. The facts are: 1) Strong opinions are good and welcome here 2) A system of checks and balances is also good to keep the discussion real 3) The best posters can admit to being wrong, while at the same time not shying away from taking risks with their thoughts and predictions.

OR the board can become some version of the following:

- Wolves RULE!!!!!

- Wiggins for MVP in 2016!!!!

- The Jazz Suck!!!!!!

- The Wolves will win 60+ games next year!!!!

- Stanley Johnson should be the first pick in the draft!!!

I don't think that's what we want. If you do, I'll remember not to be critical of anything you say. Just let you run with your over the top pessimism without counter.

I agree with Q on Flip being a better PBO than coach, but that the former is still up for debate.

I personally don't believe we should cut Flip that much slack for the injuries. He knew what he was getting into with guys like Pek, Martin, and Bud. I will forgive him for Ricky, because that was something that we just didn't have anyway of predicting.

Shit, I thought about that when I wrote it but didn't think anyone would notice.

Lots of strong opinions on this board. I've had my share of strongly worded responses typed up at times that I deleted before I actually sent....finally taking Human Resources advice :-). I think the strong opinions are good as long as people remain somewhat respectful of the fact that we can all have different opinions. That said, it can be tough at times when you know someone is just asking for it! HA!

Looks like we'll get about 25 responses to the individual polls which should be a decent sample. I'll wait until tonight to tally to give less frequent posters an opportunity to weigh in. As of now, all but a few trades seem to have a consensus already.
