With a wing rotation of Wiggins, Martin, LaVine, and Bazz, the wing is actually looking like a strength for us going forward. I could see us trading Martin (who is still a very good player and gives us key spacing with his outside shooting) next year if the three young guys step up and start hitting outside shots regularly and producing consistently.

Now if only we could keep Rubio healthy and get some good healthy bigs . . . .

Yeah I shop Martin in hopes of getting a legitimate starting PF or a good first round pick in return. If you can't get that then just keep him.

A lot of prescriptions to go around here, but I said in a previous post that I'm still willing to give Flip a free pass this season. This offseason should be about finding a new coach. If Flip or even Sam is coaching next year, that might be the last straw for me. I see us having the same injury problems next year with Rubio and Pek, but maybe a new coach can get more of this team.

See you guys on draft day!

You might get a late first round pick for Martin, but you're not going to get a legitimate power forward for him. Yes, he's a streaky good shooter at times, but his value is only going to go down from here. He should have been gone at the trade deadline. It wouldn't have hurt us one fucking bit.

How is Martin's value going down? He's the exact same player he was last year and he's already over 30, but not at the point where guys start calling it quits. His game is built to last, so how does his value go down? In my mind it actually goes up from here on out because he's been the same guy for years and every new year pulls one off his contract. Martin on a 2 year deal at basically the MLE is more valuable than a 3 year deal because teams want shorter deals for guys like him. His value going down because he's a year older is crap when his game has been based on shooting and he lost his ability to get to the rim a couple years ago. He's the same guy. A year doesn't make a difference.

They could always try packaging Martin with one of our 2 young PF prospects. I wonder what that could fetch us. Would Miami bite on that? idk, just a random thought.

Everybody's value goes down after the age of the 30, especially when you have the injury history that this guy has. It's really not that hard to figure out.

Your value goes down when you hit 30, but it doesn't just keep going down every year after that just because. There has to actually be a diminishing production level for that to be the case. His injury problems have been there his whole career so that shouldn't negatively affect his value anymore than it already has. If his game hasn't changed and is still effective, his value isn't going down just because he's a year older.

And you believe his trade value is going to be different between this year's trade deadline and the summer. Not even a whole year's difference and literally none of his game will have diminished in that time yet his value has gone down? That makes sense. He's 32, not 35.

The value for a 30+ veteran is always more at the deadline than the summer. I could see his value increasing some as the next deadline approaches, but it will never be as high as the previous year.

No sense arguing this point. If you really believe what you're saying here I'm not going to change your mind, nor do I care to.
