He looks like he labors because of it, and I worry about keeping him in shape to stay healthy for an 82 game season. Most big guys like that get a lot bigger once they come into the league (see Shaq). Jahlil can't afford to add any more weight. He just won't be durable.

His fitness has to get better. But there are great reports about his drive and work ethic. I think this will be part of his maturation.

I think finding a young PG behind Rubio is a good idea but I don't know if giving up Dieng is what I would do to address that. I'd like to get Tyus but I am not sure what I would give up to get him right now.

This does bring up an interesting question about what you do with Dieng. Despite his lack of strength and man defense there is still potential (he seems unlike to realize it but there is a little hope) to become better on that end. The other parts of his game playing hard blocking shots surprising offensive game are worthwhile. If you decide he isn't a starter at what point do you decide to cash in on his value and swing for another player? I think I would wait another year because I think he will have some solid value as a trade asset at that point also he will still be just 26. Also if you trade Dieng you are left with a draft pick or 2 underwhelming young guys injury prone vets and probably bargain bin FAs for bigs. That sounds like a disaster...like this year.

I wouldn't give up Dieng either. If we can land Towns, him and Dieng can potentially each play both spots giving us nice flexibility and ways to mix and match bigs. I like the idea of seeing KG/Dieng at PF with Dieng also being the #3 C behind Pek & Towns. I thought of Towns & Dieng on the court together is intriguing to me as well. I'd at least like to see Dieng 1 more season getting some run at PF with a healthy team and some talent talent next to him.

It'd be too high to trade up for Tyus, but I think if Miami keeps their pick they would be a prime trade target for us. Riley doesn't like rookies and we have a couple guys that could help them next year. They're going to want to go all out while Wade and hopefully Bosh can play at a high level. Martin and one of our high second rounders they can waive if they don't like them might be enough to get it done.

Yeah, that'd be an awesome trade if we got it to go (probably need to do more than Martin + 2nd though). Protected 1-10, so to add another guy in that group to the mix would be nice.

Tyus Jones would be a reach there, but another guard that I would take instead would be Jerian Grant. He's going to be a good NBA hooper.

I really like Jerian Grant as well, but the idea here is contingent on us drafting Okafor and drafting Tyus to keep them together. I'd be all for it. I watched Tyus play high school ball, and now with Duke. I am slightly biased towards him I guess, but I think he'll be very serviceable in the nba, even if his size is seen as an issue by some. He has great court vision, composure, and can shoot. He'd definitely be an asset, and is 19 to Grant's 22.

If all we're trying to do is have a buddy system, then we can just take Towns and grab the Harrisons in the second round. Maybe even buy a 2nd rounder and get Dakari while we're at it.

Clearly I'm kidding. Tyus would be welcomed here because he is a hometown kid and a pretty decent freshman, but he has certain limitations in his game that he'll never surpass because of his size. Still a late first in my opinion, but the Miami pick would be top-10 in this scenario.

Well we drafted a pg with serious limitations with the 5th pick and everyone loves him. Don't see why grabbing one late would be all that terrible for insurance purposes. Unless there's a solid vet to be had this off season.

Oh, I agree top-10 would be way early for tyus. Too early for jerian even. Tyus will get extra hype because of the big championship game/mop honors though and will likely go closer to #20 rather than the end of the first like he was projected.

You know...minus the fact that Rubio going 5 was actually surprising and Tyus hasn't ever cracked a top 10 big board. If we got another top 10 pick I'd pick Kaminsky and pick Towns with the first pick. Frontcourt offense and defense solved.
