Just look at the Grizzlies. Hollins was a dinosaur and they brought in Hollinger and Joeger and determined that Marc is a god from the high post and they should probably run more of the offense through him and they went from the bottom of the playoff hunt to one of the front runners. They didn't even add threes. They just used the stats to help better their offense with their existing personnel. They were open to other information and it took them to another level instead of continuing with the Hollins system that couldn't adapt to what advanced stats said they could do better. The Grizzlies aren't that different from the Hollins days. They've just focused their efforts on more efficient opportunities that existed but weren't emphasized.

Well, to be fair...

The Grizzlies were 56 - 26 and made the WCF in Hollins' last year as coach. They went 50 - 32 and lost in the 1st round of the playoffs last season with the new regime.

This season, they should win close to 60 games... we'll see what kind of playoff success they have. They're certainly in the mix. And I get your point about Hollins being a dinosaur in some ways.

A half court offense is what Flip runs. Been around since Bobby Knight was winning national chanpionships, maybe even been around since those all white team Adoph Rupp ran at Kentucky. We are running a half court.

We have two players, Wiggins and Lavine, who run the court like deer. We have a point guard whose greatest strength is passing and court vision (anticipation). Shouldn't we be running a fast break offense?

Never mind defense. I know Flip doesn't coach that. Flip the GM needs a new coach.

We don't run nearly enough IMO. But one of the problems is that we are always taking the ball out of our own basket. Hard to beat the other team down court that way.

As far as our penchant for taking long 2's and forsaking the 3 pointer goes, it is a tired subject. We all know Flip's offense is antiquated and we are at a disadvantage because of it, but it isn't going to change until a new coach comes in. We seem to complain about this every week and it does suck. The complaints are just tired.
