Lets not forget how many other bigs we have right now. If Pek is ready by start of the season that takes a chunk of minutes away right off the bat. Plus Dieng, KG and Bjelica

We all probably expect too much from rookies, especially those drafted highly. I would expect Towns will have a trouble staying on the floor because of fouls. Probably his stats won't blow us away, but if he can make an impact for us defensively and show some growth offensively I'll be pretty happy.

Anybody else here read his quotes about Minnesota and think this whole thing is just too good to be true? This is Minnesota, and the guy loves it here. It's like our reputation has changed as a franchise. The Kahn years seem to really be in the rearview mirror. I'm half expecting something terrible to happen just because this is the Wolves. Has anybody checked his tweet history for any jokes about Timberwolves players raping anybody?

I'm hoping he's a little higher than that - especially on offense. But maybe my expectations are too high - not sure. What do others think?

If he put up the same numbers in the same amount of minutes as college I would still be pretty happy with that.

That's interesting to me. I wouldn't be happy with that. I'm expecting this guy to come in and play a lot. Similar to Wiggins last year. Maybe slightly less than Wiggy if Pek is healthy. But none of the other guys mentioned/currently on the roster should have any impact on restricting his minutes IMO.

The only way that is happening is if we have injuries and we do NOT want that lol. Remember how many minutes Wiggins was playing early on.

As much as we aren't satisfied we our PF/C positions there's currently (could change with injury) a lot more competition there than at the wings last year. Getting substantial playing time over KG, Pek, Dieng, Payne, Bjelica, and Bennett is a big ask for a rookie.

Last year neither Martin, Shabazz, or Brewer played more than half the season so Wiggins competition for one of the 2 wing spots came down to Bud and LaVine which pretty much guaranteed Wiggins a lot of minutes regardless of how well he played.

You are correct. But - as I recall, they moved Brewer to allow Wiggins to flourish. I would expect similar for Towns. I'd bet everything I own that KG, Pek, Dieng, Payne, Bjelica and Bennett are not all going to be on the roster come opening day. At least one of those guys will be gone (most likely AB) and one will be injured (most likely Pek or KG). And even though it sounds like they are bringing over Bjelica...I still don't know if they plan on keeping him or trading him.

If he can get close to 2 blocks a game and 8-9 rebounds a game I'm willing to give him 5-7 years to figure the rest of his game out .

I think Towns will be limited by fouls his first year. He will have to to be effective without fouling.

PEk struggled with fouls his first year or two, didn't he? then he was a beast until his ankle crapped out
