1) KG - It hurts me to say that
2) Bjelica
3) Payne - Like his athleticism / aggressiveness
4) Bennett - Could become the best of the group if he steps forward
5) Hummel - Robbie is Robbie

Looking at this list, maybe we aren't as deep as I thought.

You just named 5 guys who play 1 position. We have depth. As to the quality? That's a different question.

Hey, my thread - my rules! I listed all realistic options. If Pek comes into camp and is declared 100% then Towns will be playing some PF. Also last year Flip tried Dieng a little at PF and I know some on here thought that was a good idea. Also I wanted to see how people would rank Bjelica vs Dieng and Towns vs. KG. But I already gave everyone the right answer in my earlier post, so it doesn't matter anymore :-)

You're asking us to rank them as if we were having a draft today. But are we drafting just for 2015-6, or for the long term? I'm going to do it both ways, just to be difficult:

Value as a PF just for 2015-6:

KG
Towns
Bennett
Bjelica
Payne
Hummel
Dieng (I still don't see Dieng as a PF)

Long-term value as a PF:

Towns
Bennett
Bjelica
Payne
Hummel
Deing
KG

Towns and Dieng won't be playing PF, so this is a purely "on paper" ranking you have here instead of a reflection of our roster reality.

You really have AB ranked over Bjelica in the right-now scenario? You must be trying to roust Cam out of his sabbatical.....

I'm trying, q, I'm trying...

I think Pek arrived back in town yesterday, so we should know more about his health soon. I'm continuing to be optimistic about his surgery, and hope that center minutes will go to him, Dieng and Towns. This will allow Towns to contribute bigger minutes at what I think will be his ultimate best position...stretch PF.

Most of my knowledge about Bjelica comes from highlight videos, which we know make almost anyone look good. AB's highlight reels are more impressive than Bjelica's, for what it's worth...just a much stronger, more explosive athlete, and I like the looks of his jump shot better too.

I've also seen Bjelica's most recent stats in Turkey...11.8 PPG and 5.7 RPG in 26.3 minutes, or 16.1 and 7.8 per 36 minutes. Not too bad. AB's per 36 stats were 12 and 8.7, and he put up those stats in a much better league. So, it looks like NB is the better scorer, and AB is the better rebounder. But can NB put up similar stats when he steps up to the NBA...probably not, but we don't know how big the dropoff will be. We
also know that AB battled injuries last year, so who knows how he might perform if healthy.

Maybe NB will surprise me and be a better producer in the NBA than he was in Turkey. But until I learn more about him, I'm taking AB over him.

LST, I'm not sure where you got your stats from. Bjelica averaged 8 rebounds per game in only 25 minutes (that's 11.5 per 36) in the Turkish league and 8.5 rebounds per game in 27 minutes in Euroleague play (11.3 per 36), so he's a markedly better rebounder than Bennett. My guess is those numbers soften a bit in the NBA, but typically rebounding translates quite well from European leagues to the U.S.

You also have to factor in Bjelica's ability to put the ball on the floor and make plays. Assists are notoriously hard to come by in Europe, where they are really tight on crediting them to players.

It's really not even close in my opinion.....

I'll add their are examples of Euro players actually end up with better rebounding numbers in the NBA than they did in Europe. Skepticism of Bjelica is fine with me though.

Monster, I think Bjelica will struggle his first month or two as he adjusts to the speed of the game, but I think eventually he will be a key cog off our bench and as a spot starter on back-to-backs, when KG doesn't start.

I think so too. Let's hope so.

Q, maybe I don't know how to navigate this website, but if you go to the regular season tab, it has NB averaging 11.8 and 5.7 in 26 minutes.

http://www.euroleague.net/competition/players/showplayer?pcode=001413#!RS

I've seen AB play live, and only been able to watch NB on video. But to me there is a big difference in two things that have a lot to do with rebounding...size and athleticism. AB is bigger and more athletic than NB, and just looks like a much better rebounder to me. I am concerned about NB's ability to be adequate on the boards in the NBA.

LST, You are looking at his last 10 games, not the whole season. Go to the grid above the 10-game log and you will see his totals and average for the season.
