If they made that deal I would stop being a Twolves fan, that would be idiotic.

Brousard is a terrible reporter, most of the shit he makes up never happens. The only thing I take from this is that Klay is avalible and that means other teams have to start upping the ante

Are there any talks about Thompson signing long-term before the trade is finalized? If not, then I want nothing to do with a GS trade...

No player is going to sign an extension prior to a trade it'd be stupid of them to.

Klay is a RFA so the wolves will have him for 4 or 5 years. I don't think he's worth the max so probably only 4.

If this deal goes down anyway to add a guy like Deng in FA or sign/trade?

Love/martin/jj for lee/klay/barnes and a future first. Thats the only acceptable deal with the warriors for us.

I still prefer a deal with the cavs for the number 1 pick. But this is the 2nd option. Hopefully klay being made available and embiids injury push cavs into dealing with us.

I'm cooling off on the GS deal after reading some of the posts here. Having to pay Klay a max deal in order to keep him sounds bad to me, and I'm also not crazy about paying $30 million to David Lee over two years. If Golden State sweetens the deal with a future pick, that may help Flip save some face. But how valuable is a GS first rounder really? Everyone expects them to improve if they add Love, and if that's true, the pick becomes a late first rounder...tough to get excited about that.

I will not be happy if Flip trades Love and Martin for Klay, Lee and a future (late) first round pick.

I'm really confused as to how exactly GS is going to improve greatly by trading Klay and Love Light for Love. Lee gives you 75% of Love's production so the Love for Lee works out to a 25% gain. Unless they have someone who can step in for Klay at an equal level I just don't see why GS is so hot for Love.

From the Wolves perspective I like this deal, Lee will be a good player for at least one year after which he's a valuable expiring contract. The only obvious downside I see is not getting another top pick in a very strong draft but I can live with that as I think Klay will excel with Ricky running a more free wheeling offense and Lee may actually put up better numbers too.

I think our best chance to remain competitive after trading Love is the GS deal for the reasons you said. Lee can give us nearly 20 and 10 at the PF spot so the drop off in production wouldn't be all that drastic.
