The injury risk to these big men is simply getting too costly...which is why I believe we see teams moving to lighter, smaller athletes at the center position. Outside of Duncan, I would ask anyone to show me a "big" center that plays consistently over the course of 3-5 years.

I agree that big men with injury histories are a HUGE risk if for no other reason than they're putting even more weight and awkwardness on their body parts which often leads to more injuries. With that said, I think there comes to a point in the draft (5,6,7) where the upside outweighs the risk, because if you hit and they can heal up and stay even reasonably healthy, then you have a huge boost to your franchise.

So I think this puts him just below the Marcus Smart's off this world, at least in my book. But I'm a gambler...so.

Woj reports recovery time is 4-6 months. I wonder if whatever team takes him hold him out for a long time to make sure he is healthy and suck kinda like Philly did with Noel last year. Emiid's situation sure throws a wildcard into this draft that's for sure.

Where are the Embiid supporters?

I'm an embiid supporter. It sucks that a young promising player suffers an injury that might damage his long term career. Hope he could recover and have a productive career. It would be a waste if he can't play up to his potential because of this injury.

This definitely changes the dynamics on draft day. Would be interesting to see how draft night goes. I don't see him slipping past Boston or lakers though. Both those teams will be willing to take the risk.

I think the lowest Embiid goes is 6. Then I think if Love isn't traded yet, Flip gets a call seeing if Embiid and pieces for Love is enough to get him. That would be the next best thing if we can't #1 from Cleveland because we have the depth to take on an injury risk like him for his star potential and I think he Is the best player in this draft pending his health even though it is a major question mark at this point.

I could see him falling as low as the 8th spot after Wiggins, Parker, Exum, Smart, Randle, Gordon and Vonleh are drafted. Given that he has both back and foot issues this early in his career, I'd be leery about using a top pick on him, but perhaps at 13 it might be worth the gamble.

I sure hope this development loosens the Cavs hold on their #1 and Flip takes advantage. My fear is that Flip really would rather have Klay and Lee over Wiggins.

Embiid wont make it past boston in my opinion. Ainge is a risk taker. He wont balk at taking embiid. Lakers will draft him @ 7 if he were available too. Lakers dont believe in building tru the draft anyway, if the mos promising player in the draft falls to their lap they will take him even with the injury and risks.
