The real question is did KG punch Payne after the game?

At least Flip's well-respected in this league because he's been a winner. Payne is nothing. Know your place. It's really that simple. Think whatever you want to in your head. Payne can THINK "fuck my coach he's an idiot" if he wants to, but don't show him up with your actions. Now both sides looks poor. Flip looks like he's lost respect and Payne looks like a foolish young player. No good comes from stuff like that.
It'd be wrong if Wiggins or LaVine did it in my mind. It's even worse considering how Payne actually got here. Respect is sooo key for young teams.
Respect is a two way street. Trading for someone doesn't give you the unquestioned loyalty perk. If Flip was harping on him for being too aggressive or taking a bad shot or missing a defensive rotation then he singled out AP because everyone on the team is doing those things. When you're bad these things happen, but Flip doesn't get off the hook just because he traded for a guy. Payne didn't have this reputation at MSU so I find it hard to believe this is all on him.

Once again it is a common human response to roll your eyes. Not saying it is right , it is not like he was thinking I am roll my eyes to show up flip. It is a basic unconscious human reaction. Flip did the right thing for benching him, but to look at payne in a lesser light for it is silly IMO

Payne's been here just a couple weeks. You can't do that if you're a player let alone a new guy. And I'm not saying Flip can tell him to bend over, but he did just get Payne out of a spot where he wouldn't be playing at all in Atlanta. Have more appreciation/respect then rolling your eyes at the guy. That's my issue with this. And he's a nobody right now.

Basic human response isn't okay here. They're paid basketball players expected to be held at a higher level. Had K-Love, or God forbid Thad Young, done the same thing, this board would have put the hammer down.

I know I would have the same response no matter the player and I would expect flip to do the same thing he did for payne. Now if payne or any other player showed visible (to the audience) or verbal anger to flip I would say there is a bigger problem going on here, but with rolling your eyes it is a basic human reaction and you let it go after the benching

To clarify, I'm not saying Payne's a cancer or a bad attitude player. I am saying that it's unacceptable and shouldn't be tolerated by Flip or this board, for that matter. And it especially shouldn't be looked at as his fault.

I'm glad you said this, because everything ever said about Payne is how great of a guy he is, how passionate he is, how hard he plays. Look how losing (in his case going from first to worst) can change that little by little.
Has Flip lost the locker room? No.
In their heart of hearts do I think the players feel like this will work long term? No, and it's gonna lead to guys not giving a damn anymore.

Ha, I would even provide the matches!
I agree with most of the takes in this thread. It was immature for Payne to do what he did, and right for Flip to correct him promptly. And I don't think that Flip has necessarily irreparably lost the locker room. But my understanding of human nature tells me that there may be some grumbling about the coach going on out of earshot. As WildWolf says, Payne has always been known as a "good guy". So why does a good guy show up a coach who just gave him a chance? Some of it is human nature, as kekgeek suggested...Flip said something that Payne thought was stupid and instinct took over. But I don't know that Payne instinctively would have shown up Flip publicly if he hadn't heard his new teammates questioning him privately.
