Lol. Wake up. You think Love should agree to pick up his option and resign with the Cavs? So he's supposed to sacrifice the best 6 years of his career playing for possibly the worst organization in the league so that his old team can get a good deal. That makes a ton of sense. They asked him if he would resign there and he answered honestly. What more do you want from the guy?

I realize Love can have veto any move, but he's still a dick. He talks about winning and making the playoffs and with Kyrie, if he's any good playoffs should be a lock in the East. Flip has engaged the teams that Love has said he's interested in, but they have offered crap. Sacramento has said they would do a deal without Love's pre-approval and they have said everyone but Cousins is available. Number 8 and McLemore is a great start and if they throw in a future 1, that's a helluva offer and is as good as any non-Cleveland offer. There is a consensus top 8 players and that gets us one of Wiggins, Parker, Embiid, Exum, Gordon, Smart, Vonleh or Randle.

Oh yea Love will be miserable for a year then can just sign with the Rockets, warriors, Bulls, whoever and be in the playoffs for a long time. Meanwhile the Wolves will toil in lottery hell. But hey we got to send him to the Kings for a year! That'll show him!

You miss my point. Sacramento can offer us as good a package as any team besides Cleveland. They have the #8 pick with at least 8 blue chip prospects, they have McLemore who is young and talented, they have future picks which will likely be lottery picks. They have said anyone but Cousins is on the table. At least we should tell Love that if he doesn't like Cleveland, then enjoy Sacramento. The Wolves should make Love choose between the two and perhaps he'll reconsider Cleveland. Even if he commits to two years (via waiving his early termination rights), Cleveland might do the deal thinking they can entice Love into a longer deal once he's been there, especially if they can lure another star free agent there.

Kyrie basically by himself doesn't really make The Cavs a good situation. Plus as someone said in another thread that franchise has been a bit of a joke. IMO Love is going to opt out no matter what team he plays on this year unless its a perfect situation which isn't going to happen because Flip isn't going to do a deal unless he gets a ton for Love.

Guys... Kevin Love will opt out of his contract with WHATEVER TEAM HE'S ON. It's financial. It makes more sense to get a new max contract signed sooner than later. Use your heads, would you rather have one year locked up or four?

"Will Love sign a max contract with ____ after opting out?" That's the question.

Ace is right. Love could have said nothing and then walked after next year. He has the right to control his own destiny. Why not Cleveland? He wants a big stage. LA, NYC. Flip do the SAC or Boston deals, that's the best we can do. Agree Kevin is an immature dick. It is what it is

If you're winning, you're going to be playing on a big stage. Plain and simple
I don't blame Love for not signing an extension though, I have no idea what was said between the two sides. I just hope that he isn't refusing to go to Cleveland all together

Yeah, no matter who gets Love, I don't see him signing long term until after this next season. This would even include Golden State, which certainly would have a good chance to retain Love. Lot's can happen in the course of a year, and Love would be foolish to lock himself into something unnecessarily.

Hicks, Love can't sign long-term until next offseason even if he wanted to. Next offseason he has an option to opt-in or opt-out, and at that time if he opts out he can re-sign long term, but not before. Any agreement would be an understanding.
