I voted No. I just don't buy into either narrative that he has done irrepairable damage to the franchise and that he is for sure gone after this year. I know I tend to be a homer but I am really starting to like what Flip is doing running the franchise. Every summer for years we say "This is the biggest summer..." And this is a big one. Its going to be interesting to see what Flip can do buy bringing in players this summer and then coaching them. My speculation is Flip isn't gonna trade Love unless he has to or someone offers a deal that's too good to turn down and I don't think that's going to happen this summer.

I still think a deal gets done by the end of the draft. I think you guys are putting way to much stock in what has been rumored to this point. Teams aren't going to get serious until Wednesday or during the draft itself. That is when the teams that truly want Love are going to show their hand. And to Flip's credit he seems to realize that.

Leverage gained. No. 1, Waiters, Thompson certainly on the table as Cleveland goes after LeBron.

I voted no deal. Unless David Kahn is hired as a GM in the next two days, I can't find a GM stupid enough to mortgage his team's future for a chance to convince a selfish player to stay more than one year.
Lip, someday you have to share with us the horrible things Flip said about your mother :). You compare Flip's actions in the coach search with his actions in the pre-draft Love saga, and put forth a narrative that Flip is managing both processes to the detriment of the franchise. But if Flip was never really interested in hiring anyone else as a coach as you suggest, he wouldn't have gone all the way to the alter with Dave Joerger. And we also know that he actively pursued Tom Izzo and perhaps Fred Hoiberg. I'm glad he passed on the other retreads available.
As for the pre-draft Love saga, I actually agree with you that part of Flip is comfortable going forward with Love on the roster, and might even think that he can talk him into staying. But I think he is just being realistic based on the garbage offers he is receiving. I'm confident that if Cleveland eventually offered #1, Thompson and Waiters (doubtful, in my opinion), Flip would be smart enough to take it.
I will continue to hope for a Thursday deal, but I handicap it at less than 20%. Thursday's going to be fun. I stupidly booked myself up that night, so I won't be online to share in the fun...I'm counting on you guys to guide Flip in the right direction!

Okay, I'm a little embarrassed to be Flip flopping a half hour after voting no deal, but I found this podcast compelling evidence that a deal will happen with GS. It's Chad Ford talking with Simmons, and his prediction that a deal will happen is at about the 28 minute mark.

If you don't have time to listen, Ford says a deal will happen because they have an agreement on the key pieces.
He says they are close on Love/Martin/Barea for Lee/Thompson/Barnes and a future first. The minor pieces (Barea, Barnes, draft pick) are the discussion points now, and Ford thinks those are minor enough that this deal will happen. I agree. I like it, don't love it. If I'm Flip, I think I have to do it.

Man, I wouldn't mind that if we could somehow get Green included.

Thanks for the heads up LST. Aisle have to listen to it when I get home. If true, it makes me happy. I get the sense that many think Klay has peaked for some reason but I feel his best basketball is ahead of him. This is a great case of proven talent with a lot of upside. Best route for a Love trade by far. The #1 pick would compete but I still don't buy its availability. I actually think the Cavs are going to trade down to 3 and take Embiid.

No Deal for me. I think there has only been crap offered so far and teams assume that they can fleece us as usual. Good for Flip for not taking garbage. There is nothing worse that being in no mans land which is exactly where these deals would put us.

If you're saying either add Green to the deal or replace the pick with Green, I agree. But if you're suggesting replacing Barnes with Green (which might be part of the current discussion), I'm not on board.
