The numbers shared above are impressive, but it's important to remember that we're largely talking about a reserve playing against reserves without significant volume to work with. McLaughlin has mostly shown to be productive when given opportunities, but he's also pretty limited in what he can reasonably do. I expect that he'll be a fine primary backup point guard for the Timberwolves this year, but that's realistically all that he is -- a backup.

Well... a 15 post thread... that should end all Jordan McLaughlin debate then... LOL.

As for Jones... I guess I don't see how they don't compare. Limited scorers who have an exemplary Assist/TO ratio who are more game managers than dynamic playmakers.

It's been good enough for Jones to get a $9M annual salary... and now a $14.5M salary. Given some of the similarities with McLaughlin... I think in a thread directly about his VALUE... the comparison was on point.

And I would add that both are smart, disruptive defenders, and surprisingly effective at times on the defensive side of the ball despite their lack of length.

Jones is more of a proven commodity at this point, but little JMac has shown me he has the potential to be a comparable contributor. I feel very comfortable with what JMac will bring in his backup PG minutes, and I'm not at all worried about how he will perform as a starter in the games DLo misses.

Right, but that's the area where Tyus Jones has definitely proven himself. He was the starting PG for a Memphis team that went something like 21-2 in the games Morant missed. That is an impressive sample size and impressive outcome and why I would be perfectly comfortable having Tyus as our starting PG on a deal that is $15M less than our current starting PG (and of course it's not to be since he re-signed with Memphis and DLO is still on our squad).

We've never seen Lil' Mac put to the test like that, which is why I can't put him on the same level as Tyus. But I do think at minimum he is a sure-handed backup.

Huh. I think you either misunderstood or misread my post. I didn't agree or disagree with the comparison. Actually, I didn't even talk to that point. I shared a link of a prior Jordan McLaughlin thread on this board and noted there was more Tyus Jones chatter there as well. You're essentially going on about nothing. Bravo.

I apologize for going over the 15 post limit of Tyus Jones/Jordan McLaughlin discussions. And I thank you for your strict policing of board chatter.

Again... You're going on about nothing. I'm not sure what your issue is today, but I implore you to get it together. My goodness.
