Curry had 49 points last night. He looks like he has more than a year or two left in him. Klay should come back healthy and have a number of years left at his peak as a shooter. Was it their savvy or Khans idiocy? Don't forget Khan drafted two PG's in front of Curry. Do they even win one chip without him? Klay was also an 11th overall pick, again the Wolves passed on him as well but so did 9 other teams who drafted worse. Kyrie was a solid 1 pick. Kawhi should have went to the Wolves in hindsight at 2 or if Kawhi went 1 we get Kyrie, 3 should have been Klay. 4 Jimmy Butler and 5 Kemba Walker.
So maybe some luck and other teams idiocy was involved as well.
There was savvy involved in taking Curry over DeRozan. Remember that no one saw Curry becoming anything close to the NBA player he's become. And there were serious questions about his ability to defend in the NBA. There was a lot of savvy in taking Klay at #11. There was also a lot of savvy involved in drafting Green in the second round. There also some savvy involved in drafting Harrison Barnes at #7 and eventually parleying him into Iggy. Obviously, they haven't hit on all their picks, but they built championship team and championship contender for many years and they did it largely through the draft along with some smart deals. I'd say they fleeced the Wolves getting both of our 2021 picks, with the 1st rounder only top 3 protected, along with Wiggins for DLO. Does anyone really believe there's another team in the League that would have given up anything close to that for DLO? Call it Wolves stupidity, but I'll call it savvy to take advantage of another organization's stupidity. They did it when they drafted Curry and again when they did the DLO/Wiggins deal.

Even during the draft everyone knew it was a bad move.
The hype was real for Curry after his dominating NCAA tourney.
GS's savy from the past few years I would give them a mixed bag grade. It's worth remembering all they had to do to bring Russell to the team in the first place. They paid a future first round pick that COULD be unprotected to get rid of Iggy. Their draft picks have been a mixed bag. Trading away what is either their first round pick this year or the Wolves 2nd round pick this year for an expensive Oubre is a mixed bag at best. It would be funny if the pick they gave up to get rid of Iggy ends up being better than the player they pick with the Wolves pick.
Speaking of Wiseman, not sure if people saw the read below. Apparently the Wolves were doing their best to trade back from #1 this past year but Golden State didn't bite:

One interesting thing is that I've heard from multiple sources that Evan Mobley is considered a better big man prospect... which shows you that the windows for these guys (perception) is pretty narrow sometimes.

Which is crazy to me. I'd take Wiseman over Mobley any day of the week.
As for the pick, as long as it's not the 4th pick to the Warriors, who cares? If the pick isn't Green/Kuminga/Mobley/Suggs/Cunningham, then the Wolves dodged a bullet. If it all it cost the Wolves was Jalen Johnson or Scottie Barnes or even Davion Mitchell and a 2nd to get rid of Wiggins, assets well spent. Keeping the '22 pick is much more important.
