A guy that has always made an impact on his team when on floor is Favors. I recall seeing stats this past season where that team was just remarkably better with him vs without. In watching a lot of videos, nothing stands out. I just think he is a smart player that plays hard and tough.
I bring him up because he is a guy that will likely not get more than the mid-level. Mid-level looks to be near $10MM this upcoming season, so it is not chump change. His below the rim style is not en-vogue at the moment, so I don't believe he gets another huge deal. I would certainly love to see him in a Wolves uniform on a multi-year deal. He seems a realistic get that could play both big positions and bring some toughness to team. IMO, he is a slightly better version of James Johnson.

I like Favors. But I don't see Rosas pursing him. Remember that James Johnson is a good ball-handler and pretty good perimeter shooter. In other words, he fits the Rosas/Saunders system.

It really is. I really like Klay I hope he can come back from all these injuries. It will be interesting to see how the Warriors do this year without him.

There are multiple draft picks almost every year who help their teams out in year 1. They don't have to be the best players on their team or pushing to be all-stars like Ja and Zion. They just have to be better than a replacement level player. 6 of the top 13 guys last year had a positive value over a replacement player meaning they belonged in an NBA rotation. I doubt McDaniels even plays much for us this year so that means it's all on Edwards to be a positive player right out of the gate. He doesn't have to be the best player on the team, but his minutes can't be flip floppy between garbage and great. He needs to be more good than bad. A number 1 pick should be able to help your team early in their career and then as they develop they should be able to carry the team.

I agree Kahns. There are lots of examples of high draft picks helping their teams quite a bit in their rookie seasons. There are also examples of rookies who help on the margins with certain skills like defense, hustle or 3-point shooting.
I agree that McDaniels won't help the Wolves at all this season. I'll go further and predict that he'll be out of the League or a permanent fixture on the end of another team's bench in 3 years. Edwards definitely has the physical talent and skill set to help the Wolves as a rookie. It all depends on his mind-set and how he's used by the team's coaching staff. I hope Edwards has it in him. I have very little faith in Ryan Saunders or our front office to bring out the best in Edwards.

That would be a huge plus if Edwards can do that. I just don't feel like any of the top picks talent wise in this draft were being projected to do that. Except for maybe Haliburton, which makes it even more crazy that he slipped as far as he did. I think there will be times when Edwards helps this team this year, there are also going to be points of frustration. It would be expected of any of the top 10 picks this year. If any of them go beyond inconsistency to regular positive contributions with significant playing time I will be surprised.

It's actually kind of nice for the Wolves to have a clearcut #1 guy already in Towns.
Getting a top pick on top of that is just a bonus. And hopefully... never happens again for this franchise.

This is the first real leadership responsibility for Towns (and to a lesser extant Dlo) as that guy. This is totally KAT's team now. It's really interesting all the life changes KAT has gone through and to see if he takes up that mantle of leadership. It's up to him to be that guy for someone like Edwards to follow. There are interesting points of synergy where I see some potential in that relationship. But that would require everything to go right, which is very unWolves.

The Jon K article on the athletic about the Edwards decision was definitely disappointing to read. Basically the in person interview and workout for Rosas put him clearly ahead of Wiseman...a guy they chose not to interview and workout.
