I've been pretty disappointed with Jones and Payne. These guys are on their 2nd and 3rd Summer League stint respectively with a solid amount of NBA minutes under their belt, yet they look over matched and/or out smarted by a bunch of fringe guys. When the injuries hit, these are the guys we're counting on. Not good.

I stopped watching it in the 1st quarter. I flipped it on a couple of times and only saw Payne screwing up.

He is the featured big on this team, and he has pissed it away. I see no way his option is picked up this October, and will almost be surprised if he is even on the roster entering training camp.

Q Tyus did't look good but this SL roster is terrible maybe the worst performing one I have seen outside of Tyus and Dunn. We saw how Tyus sometimes had a tough time with the bench guys he had to play with in the regular sason and this is just brutal. He had a few nice drives and dishes and the guys seemed to have no clue he would pass them the ball and if they did get it they couldn't possibly finish. Sadly this was Payne's best Game. Yeah its that bad. I think you need to give Tyus a bit of a break he couldn't just carry a team. I think he could give some decent minutes. Payne? I doubt it. He doesn't even look good in this setting which is brutal and he has been set up by players for easy buckets all 3 games and couldn't finish.

I watched the whole thing except the last minute or so when my stream cut out. Like I said in my reply to Q this was teh best Payne looked throughout an entire game so far and he still couldn't finish plays. He at least didn't completely panic and do something cray every time he got the ball. Yeah there is no way he gets his option picked up and I don't think that was going to happen before this sad SL showing. I agree its very possible he isn't on the roster when the season starts. Greg Smith was better than him last year and the margin was actually probably pretty large.

Monster, I get that Tyus has poor team mates and of course in a regular NBA game I don't expect Tyus to be able to totally take over. But at this level......I kinda think he should be able to go out and do more. These are minor-league guys he's playing against and he struggles a bit on both ends. What happens when Rubio or Dunn goes down and we need him to play 15-20 minutes per night?

I do agree that if he's surrounded by a bunch of dynamic talent, he can be an excellent game manager. But injuries always put your 10th/11th/12th type guys in situations where you might need them to do a little more. I'm not sure if Tyus is cut out for it.

(note to self - summer league is meaningless, summer league is meaningless, summer league is meaningless.....)

Payne might be one of the worst forwards I've ever seen put on a Wolves uniform. I mean seriously, he is TERRIBLE! He should be sleep walking to a double-double every night against this competition given his age and experience!

(note to self - summer league is meaningless, with the exception of Payne, who we already knew sucked and has no chance in this league going forward)

What exactly do you expect Tyus to do playing with these bums that literally can't make a shot? I don't want to defend the guy too much but seriously these guys are terrible.

Let's also remember Tyus turned 20 a few weeks ago. If Tyus gets forced into more minutes like you describe we might be screwed anyway. What I would hope for him if that was the case is he can bring the ball up mange the game and if he can hit 3's and come up with a hustle play each night that might be enough. Remember Thibs has gotten plenty out of PGs when he was coaching the Bulls. I do find it interesting how much they put Dunn off the ball in the first 2 games.

Maybe Dunn and Ricky are the same. The team crumbles when they aren't on the floor.

I didn't see much of last night's game, but did see AP's horrible line score. It's disappointing to see how far he has regressed from a year ago when, other then Zach's one game, he was our best player. Conversely, this year he was consistently terrible in all three games. I suspect he will be on the roster because he's big and under contract, but I think we will see him inactive most nights.

Thanks for the thread Tim, but I basically stopped watching after the half. Just no point. Tyus and Payne aren't going to see a lot of minutes this year and games like this don't help their case!
