I'm as frustrated as anyone by Glen's inaction on Thibodeau. But that guy kept NBA basketball in Minnesota, put together a front office and team that took us from being a perpetual bottom-feeder to being a perennial playoff team that eventually made it to the Western Conference finals. He's always been willing to spend money on the team - whether it's paying big buck to players or investing in the arena. People I know who've been around him rave about how well he's treated them and what a genuine, humble guy he is.
So I won't joint the mob piling on Glen. I'll criticize him as I have for poor front office hiring decisions and I'll criticize him now for failing to take the $24 million hit the kicks Thibodeau out the door. But that's enough. And if you want Glen to sell the team right now, then you'll be saying goodbye this the franchise that Glen kept in MN as residents of Seattle say thank you.
Glen is looking for local buyers and I hope he finds some good ones. But until that happens, I want Glen to hold onto the team. I still remember how horrible it felt when it seemed certain that the team was moving to New Orleans. I don't want to have that feeling again.
The narrative that Glen spends big money on this team is just false as I see it. He spent big money on one player (Garnett) one time then majorly lobbied for a hard cap which basically made it impossible to build around KG. Once KG finally started asking for some much needed support, Glen used the luxury tax one time, which he later said was a mistake. Glen then spent almost no money on the team or arena for another 10 years while both rotted. The city agreed to Glen's demand to finance a portion of the target Center Reno's which was the oldest building in the league to not have updates at the time. Then Glen was the central negotiator and chief advocate of the owners needing more of the revenue, while the franchises value had seen huge increases. For most of his tenure, Glen's Timberwolves portfolio has greatly increased while he's spent little (and for the big Al/Telfair years almost nothing) on the team. I think the narrative is pretty obvious, Glen has been about as cheap as possible with his investments in this team. People could point to Thibs contract, but that was a 2 for one deal where he didn't have to pay for both a top GM and Coach. Sure he kept the team in Minnesota, but who cares when it's been so god awful.

Lip and others, go outside this weekend. Everyone here is getting ragey again over Jimmy. Let's all just chill out and enjoy this show for all it's faults. It's the new normal.
Good point Bizarro. I always knew you to be a scholar and philosopher. Here are some other refreshing alternatives to watching and thinking about the Wolves:
- Attend a chainsaw juggling class at your local Y
- Go to downtown Portland while wearing your MAGA cap, tank top, Levis, and white sneakers that you bought at Foot Locker. Ask a local where the nearest Dennys is.
- Read some Faulkner.
- Listen to Kenny G
- Watch the Streisand version of "A Star is Born".
- Get arrested.
- Crack open a wine cooler.
etc.
Haha. Interesting list. I'm trying to find a bar that has axe throwing. Its the new darts.
Yes! Liquor, axes, and throwing is a great combination that the whole family can enjoy!
A few years ago when we were driving out west to see family we went past an establishment in Wyoming that advertised Beer Guns and Fireworks. Great combination. A god friend of mind was driving through Missouri last month and went past a place that sold mattresses and Taxidermy. That led to a suggestion of clever names for this business.

Lip thanks for the info. Someone asked Wolfson about a possible new owner and Wolfson basically said there wasn't any movement towards Glen selling but his best guess was the next owner could be a current minority owner and continuing his best guess was Meyer Orbach. I'd look up the tweet but it's not worth that.

Doogie truly is clueless on this matter. Of course, he's clueless on so many things. Lol. I still remember his tweet saying the Wolves were about to draft Payne just before the Wolves drafted LaVine. Flip had told me 10 days earlier that he was going to take LaVine if available. I like repeating this one because it highlights just how unreliable Doogie really is. To be as wrong as he was so close to the pick and yet so confident that he'd tweet it as something about to happen tells you he either has absolutely horrible sources or just makes things up.

I was curious if you had heard anything. Thanks for the reply. To be fair to Wolfson he was just throwing out a guess and said as much.
Edit:
I'll add that after googling his name and reading about some of the stuff Orbach and other real estate people were doing in the NYC area...I wasn't excited about him being the owner that's for sure.

I don't think he's a very good guesser. :) That's a big part of his problem. Having said that, I enjoy his podcasts and tweets. I like that he's engaged, active and interested. And he seems like a nice guy. I just take much of what he says with a big grain of salt.
