Daddy will just get his favorite son another high-profile, high-paying gig.
If this all turns out to be proven true he isn't getting hired by anyone. Maybe he can teach some college classes like David Kahn.
Yeah. I was being facetious.
He only has the Philly job because of Daddy. Nepotism helped him many times.
Gotcha.
At least he was actually reasonably qualified for this job. It's probably another overrated thing but he was executive of the year...twice.
Edit: Also I forgot that Heinke did some lecturing at Stanford which the burner accounts made fun of.

If the allegations prove to be true, and I suspect they will be, then BC will soon be leaving behind his last job in an NBA front office. Truly pathetic. He was incredibly fortunate to inherit the talent that Heinke bequeathed him, but he was apparently too arrogant and immature to recognize his good fortune. The Sixers will probably hire Griffin, which will help facilitate signing LeBron as a FA this summer. Then we'll see a Sixers-Warriors finals next year.

I don't get Twitter. I mean, I get the reasons why people want to do that, but I really don't share those feelings at all.
Maybe it's my age (41), but it already feels like a big step to come onto this platform and share my thoughts with you guys, and I'm pretty sure there aren't more than a couple dozen of us regulars on here. I think there are three things about Twitter that I don't like.

Part of it is the anonymity thing--I think people should be honest about who they are and own what they write (by the way, my name is Andrew Warne, I'm from Minnesota but live in Germany now).

But it's also the sheer availability for anyone to read what you wrote. That just seems reckless to me to put that out there unless you are being thoughtful about what you say, which it seems like most of these tweets just aren't. Do you really want people to be able to read whatever stupid thing you thought at any random time?

And that's the third thing--how can you possibly express careful thoughts in just a few characters? It seems like it encourages vastly oversimplified thinking.
Go ahead and use it openly and honestly, but carefully, especially if you're a public figure. But to hide behind anonymity and just troll around (or troll openly as some people do) just seems like the height of recklessness and childishness. What kind of world are we leaving our kids?

Not just the talent left behind by Hinkie. Remember, the 76ers hired his dad, Jerry... not Bryan.
Then, when Daddy got the job, he basically gave it over to his son and largely walked away.
That's where I was going with this. Bryan Colangelo has had his entire career set up by Daddy. Sure, he had success here and there over the past 30 years. But it's pretty amusing that he still had to cling to Daddy's influence to get the Philly gig.

While I do agree with much of those sentiments... I don't use Twitter either. Heck, I think my last Facebook post was about 7 years ago...
The previous generation probably thought video games was society's downfall. Or rap. Or hypercolor t-shirts. Before them, it was the tv and leather jackets and that insufferable rock-n-roll crap.
Society changes. (I'd use evolve... but... well... ). Anyway, it's a constant battle to avoid "being the old guy on the front lawn chasing away neighbor kids (who are probably on their phones) with a hose" and completely giving in to an ever-increasing impersonal and fraudulent way of interacting that is growing exponentially in popularity.

The thing I love about this story are all the conspiracy theories.
Hinkie tipped off the ringer (hinkie is the AI professor at Stanford).
Bill simmons held this information until the moment it looked like LBJ might go there. Helping his celtics.
Somebody set up Colangelo inside the sixers organization to get him fired because LBJ hates his dad because of what he expects out of USA basketball.
It was his wife (this might be true all numbers connected to the Twitter accounts are his wife number)

My favorite was the news that Hinkie has been investing in AI since he left the role with the 76ers so he may be the whistle blower. I seriously doubt that part is true, but that would just make this story even better.

Also I use Twitter a lot so I'll stick up for it a little bit. While I rarely post on Twitter it has basically become my breaking news outlet. I can't stand news as presented by your local outlets all the way to your CNN's and Fox's. And it let's me essentially tailor that news to what I want based on who I follow. I follow a lot of NBA twitter so I get a lot of good news from those sources. I follow a couple of politically inclined people that will usually get the big stories of the day on my timeline. It's a great way to get content tailored to what you like and then you can do the deep dives yourself into stories rather than having to deal with the constant political slants that are in every media outlet. It's a great tool when you and the people you follow use it properly and it let's you connect with people you would normally have no prayer of interacting with.

Good points.
One caveat though... doesn't tailoring the news sources just exacerbate the echo chambers for many people?
I also have my own personal checklist for news outlets (not found on tv or cnn or fox). But people are creatures of habits and like-mindedness is huge right now and I can see the customization have both good/bad features.
Although your premise that it's a good starting point for news (especially timely news) makes sense.

It can definitely be a bad thing that your feed only shows you one side of issues. At the extreme just like with anything else it can get really bad. At the end of the day it's just a tool and it's still on the person to be open to all sides of issues (for the most part) and do some research themselves to form their own opinions. I do wish though that twitter would act like a private platform and rid itself of shit like the open racism and hate speech. I'm a firm believer in freedom of speech but not freedom from consequences. If you are a racist piece of garbage or throwing death threats at people your account should get shut down. To me they could be doing a lot more to curb that part of our culture and it would be nice to have a company out on the forefront of you can't just say whatever you want and claim free speech on their platform. Go somewhere else. Same with Facebook and other large public platforms of the like.
