The Guys We're NOT Talking About
Re: The Guys We're NOT Talking About
Tyus/Brown/whoever
Lavine
Martin
Towns
Dieng
That doesn't exactly work though for spots 2 and 3.
Lavine or Martin have to start imo.
Tyus/Brown/Whoever
Martin/Lavine
Bazz
Towns
Dieng
Now, that can be potent offensively, and more than fine defensively as Towns/Dieng can clean up anything that gets to the paint.
A starting group of ...
Rubio
Martin/Lavine
Wiggins
KG
Pek
Now, I do realize KG and Pek will have limited minutes, but I do expect both to start if they are healthy. Towns and Dieng will both likely command more minutes throughout the game, but I figure they fit well coming in 6 or so minutes through the first quarter, as well as fitting perfectly with the 2nd unit finishing the rest of a quarter.

That's exactly where I am, oooooo. Having a defensive anchor like Towns on the court when Martin and Shabazz are out there would really be a benefit. I just think this club will be much stronger if Pek is somehow able to start and play some significant minutes this year. And if he is somehow healthy, I don't see how Flip doesn't start a $12 million guy who is a threat to put up 20-12 every night.
That said, Flip didn't sound too optimistic about Pek yesterday. Pek will be in town in 3 days, so I guess we will have a better idea then about how he is doing.

I'm still a big Bazz guy and one of the few who were on board with drafting him at the time. He is the type of guy that will give us a deadly bench, if he doesn;t end up starting.

I was there with yah. I actually felt terrible that the mass majority bashed him for his upbringing and tumble in the draft. I also was a huge huge and still am a huge fan of Dieng. The think I am hoping for is for Pek to be medically unable to return, freeing up space for Dieng and Town plus giving Bennett a home at PF. Ideally would like to see a package of Payne and Budinger for a solid prospect. I love this dude Bennett, but want to see him given a chance....Flip has to give him a chance. Can you imagine being taken #1 then having this difficult of a time? I wish he was taken lottery not #1. I hope he makes it.
Re: The Guys We're NOT Talking About
I've been a Bazz supporter since the draft. I just thought a guy that productive at a spot we got him in a supposed bad draft was a pretty good get. Then he got a shot to play his rookie year and showed something especially against a top defender that game against the Suns. He followed that up by blowing up this year and doing it some of the time playin through a bad ankle. He is a funky player but the dude really has some talent that's valueable. His defense looked better this year and he physically looked so much better there is some hope he can improve more in that area. I think people have been sleeping on this guy and I don't get why except his injury issues.
I think we have talked about Dieng a decent amount in other threads
What about other guys like Hummel, Hamilton and Lorenzo Brown?
Brown will be on the SL team and has some various guarantees for next season I guess. I think another guard would be a good idea and he has size enoughbto play both positions. I am not emanated with him but I like him as the worst perimeter player on the team as a 14th 15th guy on the roster
Hummel. Love that guy hope he comes back and can be the slid deep bench player good teams tend to have around.
Hamilton doubt he is still around he is like a bigger version with different position flexibility as Hummel but I wasn't as impressed with him.

Re: The Guys We're NOT Talking About
The more I brew on it, the more I realize that Lorenzo Brown will likely stick on the roster and be that 3rd PG. That's 15, right?
Rubio / Tyus / Brown
Martin / LaVine
Wiggins / Bazz / Bud
KG / Bjelica / Payne / Bennett
Towns / Dieng / Pek
Time will tell if someone gets moved. And my stab at a depth chart does not necessarily imply a rotation (ie. Pek might be the first C off the bench, with Dieng spelling KG, etc.),
So we really only have a few more moves: signing our rookies to their contracts, Bjelica signing next week, and KG re-signing sometime after July 8th.

Robbie Hummell called. He's not happy with your final roster prediction! :-)

Yeah I would be greatly suprised to not see Robbie on the roster next season. Flip seems to really like/appreciate what he does for the team

We will know the Hummel answer pretty soon -- June 30th is the deadline for a qualifying offer. Although we could still sign him even if we don't extend the qualifying offer...

Bjelica kind of kills any need for Hummel. I think Flip should keep the 15th spot open for the flexibility to sign anyone he may need during the season due to injuries.
