Playoff games are grind it out half court wars that you can't win with a primary ball handler who can't shoot. We can run and score a bunch of points and be fun in the regular season, but come playoff time games slow down, refs swallow their whistles and it becomes time to battle and we don't have a defense or a half court offense that can win that battle.
True.
But let's see if the team can win 1/3 of its games first. Then, 1/2 its games. Then, make the playoffs...
So we should just keep fighting to get to .500 with the same PG who's never helped us get more than a game over .500 and then get whooped in the playoffs before realizing he's not gonna work? Seems stupid to me to wait until he has to be moved before moving him. That would lower his value wouldn't it because teams would know we need to get rid of him?
Depends on how you see Rubio:
1) I see him as a guy who can be a key part of a .500 or better team... and helping the right collection of teammates get there.
2) I don't see him as a championship-level starter.
3) Are we certain a player with comparable value around the league is going to be better than Rubio with this group for the next 3 years?
I'm ok with the team moving Rubio. But I wouldn't move him at this point "just because" without a coach who knows exactly what he's looking for from his PG.

Why do we spend so much time talking about moving one of our top 2 or 3 players. KAT, Dieng and Ricky (and KG when he plays) are the only plus players we have now. We all hope Wiggins and Zach develop into stars, but right now they just aren't consistently good or plus players.
Kahn, without Ricky we'd be worse than Philly. Ricky has never been surrounded by talent. He's had two very good players (Love and now KAT) and pretty much nothing else that even closely resembles a playoff team. Ricky can't carry a team on his back, but he is not the reason for the team's woes.

Because if you don't build it right you end up like the Thunder with 1 finals appearance while getting lapped by teams like the Warriors and Spurs. They messed up and now they have no money to fix their screw up. That's why you have to get it right before your stars start getting paid like stars because once they do your options to move the needle a ways become a lot fewer and far between of they are there at all. Look at GS. They took advantage of their contracts and added Bogut and Iggy while their young guys were still cheap. We're in that same 2-3 year window to get it right.

With Ricky we're not that much better than Philly either. He's just not moving the needle that matters which is W-L's.

How can you say we got it right with Ricky when we can't sniff a winning record with him? That makes no sense. I don't understand this notion that PG doesn't need to be upgraded on this team when the team has been 1 game above .500 at best with him as a main piece. "We're the worst franchise of all time so let's just keep trotting out what we know doesn't win games.". Makes perfect sense.
Khans is right if you truly want to build a championship level team, which is all I care about. On the other hand Ricky has a profound affect on our team today and we clearly wouldn't be as good without him. Wish he could play 30 minutes per night, but that we had an alternative that could bring us home in the 4th quarter of most games.

So should Anthony Davis be upgraded in New Orleans then?

Then that's a scathing indictment on every other Wolves player.
And you can't even use the young guys excuse with that one.
