Go for the big chips, the needle movers, the impact players. This is my strategy when you are a team on the rise. The fringe free agents and gap fillers are for the teams that have already arrived and need to fine tune for a championship run. That's not us. So I don't want to see big money shelled out for any Courtney Lee's, or Jamal Crawford's, or Jared Dudley's. Those signings would be pointless right now. If we can't get a core blue chipper we're better off keeping our financial assets and waiting until we can get that guy. I might make an exception for Ryan Anderson or Kent Bazemore.

I'll add that I probably will be more excited about guys that get deals and we don't get than someone we do get. Let some other teams pay up for guys because they are desperate/needy.

Even at $20+M...?

There are talks that both Anderson and Bazemore are going to get $20+M. And with multiple teams after them... as I noted... it might come down to having to offer more years to land them.

That scares the hell out of me with somebody like Ryan Anderson. Bazemore for entirely different reasons.

[Note: I dig the work Volans put into the manifesto. Nice job. And I agree that the Wolves might be justified to let other teams be dumb for a change... and pick up the pieces.]

No, not for that kind of coin. That's why you go big with Durants and Horfords or go home.

I completely agree if you don't get at least a legit starter don't pay big money. Start looking for bargain guys and fill in some stuff and allow yourself to make some noise a year from now or have some cap room to utilize in the trade market.

Three guys I hope we get.

Luol Deng (SF, PF) sign
Gerald Henderson (SG) sign
Taj Gibson (PF) trade

Trade of Rubio for Gibson. And if that means we give Bazz and they send Grant/Snell/Moore then we win out significantly with position of need

You might as well throw in KAT or Wiggins too as Gibson's a future hall of famer.

Apparently, Slim, Thibs and Deng are going to talk. At the right price and length, he'd be a good signing. He's lost a step athletically and will continue to do so, but skilled players like that age well. He can do a little bit of everything on both ends, is generally efficient, doesn't really make mistakes, and can play the 3 or the 4 giving us lineup flexibility.

Anyone else interested in Terrence Jones. I think he would be a nice upside signing. Deng makes the most sense as a 4. Would agree we need a 4 and a shooter minimum.
