Injuries and coaching have held the wild back in a big way.. See this years playoffs.. Without Zach and suter the wild would never get close to playoffs!!!!!! At least they put a hell of a team together, More then i can say about, Twins, And so far the Wolves the last 10 years...

Are you serious coyle is projected to maybe have a taresenko break out season (seriously look at coyle trajectory it's the same as taresenko). Hopefully guys like Zucker and Grandlund step up with a new coach getting in there ass for once. we still have one of the best young defenseman groups in the NHL. We got a rid of dead weight Vanek and added a badly needed center in Staal and bruiser in Stewart. This team isn't close to a Stanley cup but dear God there not embarrassment.
Nobody can make up there freakin mind if spending money is good or not. The wild spent the money, the twins suck because they don't spend the money. The fact is the wild haven't been underwhelming because the spent money on suter and Parise, they been underwhelming because of there coach and for the exception of coyle our young guys not taking he next step.
Geez you guys are ripping the only team in this state that's won a playoff series in the last 5 years. They also took 2 games off a team that lead league in scoring last year without Zach Parise.

Running a hockey team is tough. You get the worst of two worlds. You get the NFL's hard cap, coupled with the NBA's guaranteed contracts.
That being said, Fletcher HAS to start doing a better job with the contracts he hands out to players 30 and older.
And enough with the trading of the draft picks already. Seriously, 4 picks in 7 rounds. Get Speilman on your speed dial, Chuck.

I haven't followed hockey much at all for at least 10 years. What I will say as an outside to the Wild and hockey in general (it's probably stating the obvious) that it seems like they have never found a star player whether it's an offensive player or a top level goalie. It's been various levels of good players. Maybe I am wrong but you have to have a heck of a lot of good players of you don't have either a top offensive guy or a top goalie. I don't know why they don't have those guys (some of it's probably luck) but they haven't/don't. I'm not sure their coaching has been anywhere net top level either. That doesn't help.

There goalie now is good. As far as a star, they had a guy name Marion Gaborik. Last NHL player to have 5 goals in a game. The coach didn't like him and the GM was recuperating from cancer (wait, am I talking about the Wild or the Twins?), and he left as a F/A for the Rangers. The Rangers traded him to Columbus and I think he helped them win a playoff series, and then he ended up with the Kings. But he would have been that guy.

Thanks for the info. Forgive my ignorance but if the goalie Hasek Roy etc good? Last time I looked goalie stats individually last season they we're not what I remember from those years.
Sidenote: I paid more attention to the NHL this year than I have for quite a while (still was pretty limited) because a guy I work with got back into the sport and was an Aves fan. I looked into some articles because they were pulling the goalie a lot and the guy I worked with was a little frustrated by some of the situations they were employing that strategy. I decided I would read what was said. I played goalie and defense as a floor hockey player for plenty of years so I feel like I have some clue on defense when it comes to the sport. I didn't come to a conclusion myself but that's probably the deepest analysis I read about the entire season.

Those two are retired now, but they were both good.
Teams are pulling the goalie much earlier now. It's not uncommon for a team two goals down to pull him 4 or 5 minutes out. Coversely, teams like the Dallas Stars have gotten really good at the 200 foot wrist shot.
Side note: "Pulling the goalie" is also a slang term for a woman who chooses to try to get pregnant against a man's wishes. So when I read your replay fast, it looked to me like you said "My coworker is upset about pulling the goalie", and I chuckled a little.
