The more I think about it, the more I wish we had drafted Buddy. Adding his 3-point shooting prowess on a rookie scale contract would have been the perfect fit for this team. It would have also given us more leeway in selecting from among the available FAs without absolutely having to sign a top notch 3-point shooter. And we wouldn't have had to ensure the nauseating Ricky/Dunn debate. :).
We would have had a Lavine/Buddy debate just the same as the Ricky/Dunn debate because Lavine and Buddy are worse fits playing together than Ricky and Dunn. Buddy wasn't a perfect fit by far. A shooter who fits the roster is what matters and right now that guy would have to be a combo wing which Buddy is a pure 2.

Al Horford (started shooting 3s last year, hit 34% of 3 per game, smart, efficient, versatile big, 30 yo)
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/3213/al-horford
Harrison Barnes (Career 38% from 3, good versatile defender, still young, 24, already a champion)
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/stats/_/id/6578/harrison-barnes
Deng (35% from 3 the last 2 years on a little over 3 per game, swiss army knife on both ends, 31 yo)
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/stats/_/id/2429/luol-deng
Marvin Williams (38-39% from 3 the last 3 years, 4.7 attempts per game at 40% last year, rebounds, hits his free throws, still pretty physical at 30 yo)
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/stats/_/id/2797/marvin-williams
Jared Dudley (36, 38, 42% the last three seasons from 3, contributes in other ways, smart guy who plays his role, 30 yo)
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/stats/_/id/3201/jared-dudley

Those would be the guys I'd go after.
First, I'm looking for bigger guys, because I think that's where we could use help the most. Horford would be the best fit in this regard and still give us some 3 point shooting. Getting a bigger guy would also allow us to save some minutes for our wings (LaVine, Wiggins, Bazz, Dunn) at their positions. I think the guys I've listed above wouldn't compete too much with our key future players for minutes.
All shoot the 3 pretty well (at least for their position), all can defend (though some better than others), all are smart, no drama guys who play hard. All but one are veterans whose shooting and other skills should slow their decline. The exception is the athletic 24 year old, who carries himself like a vet and has already played in 2 NBA Finals. All play multiple positions, which would give us more flexibility with lineups. That's key to me.
We should think big in free agency. Our stock is up. Let's get one of those!

You cool with the price tag for those guys? There are a couple of max guys on there...

I wasn't thinking about that so much as who I'd like ideally.
But we do have the space for that, if we wanted to, right? The question is whether it would interfere with extending guys. I assume it would start to affect Dieng and Bazz first. Bazz is expendable in my book. Dieng less so. If we actually got Horford, I could live with losing Dieng, as much as I like him. Who else would you say would get the max there? Barnes. The other guys I'd want a better deal so we could keep the space to extend Dieng if possible. The year after that, Pek's contract coming off the books should help. Plus the cap's about to rise. If you think players are expensive now, wait until next year.

Yeah. Horford and Barnes are max guys. Dudley might be the most affordable... around $10M?
I assume Williams and Deng will garner around $15M...
If you get Horford, Dieng can be moved.

If we don't go for a max guy, Williams and Deng can play the 4 a bunch (can Dudley?), which will help ease minutes for our key guys at the 2 and 3. I'd lean Williams over Deng because we need 3 point shooting.
That would give us basically two different kind of stretch 4s, Williams and Bjelica, and both can play at the 3 and the 4 so we can play them together for a little more shooting if necessary.
Plus we could sign Rudez cheap, and he could also fill this role a bit for us.
With a couple more roster spots to fill in (cheap SG 3 point specialist and big banger, both to short contracts), that's a roster we could work with. It would be nicer to see Horford or Barnes' name up there, but I know that may not be feasible.
Rubio/Tyus
LaVine/Dunn (I'm only listing each name once)
Wiggins/Bazz/Rudez
Williams/Bjelica/Payne
Towns/Dieng/KG
Finally, Towns showed he can hit the three last year, so I'd like to see him shoot that this year. Same with Dieng even a little bit.

Not sure if Dudley can play the 4. Maybe in certain matchups? Dunno.
In any case, I want nothing to do with Rudez. He does nothing for me. I made a comment about S. Novak earlier today. The same thing applies to Rudez.
I think we might be shocked at what Marvin Williams might get...

Rudez will only cost us like 1 million. He's a shooter who does other stuff ok too including defend, actually. Just didn't get many minutes last year. Worth 1 million for the 15th roster spot. Insurance.
