I think everyone recognizes that he does other things well, who has denied it? But it is a stark contrast that shouldn't be diminished when a ball dominant player is zero threat to score when it counts. Name me 1 great offense in the history of the NBA that had a primary ball handler who as weak at scoring as Rubio? It matters for team play and is a big part of our offensive ineptitude, we will never have a great offense if Rubio cant fix his shot.

Ricky is Numero UNO in defensive real plus minus. I can't believe we got him on such a cheap deal!

Defense wins championships. Ricky is an elite defender. But Ricky doesn't hurt the offense, because he is a great passer and free throw shooter. He is ranked 13th in OFFENSIVE Real Plus Minus:

How many games have we won this year with this phenomenal PG? Oh ya, not many. Good players win you games. End of story. Wall, Westbrook, Parker, Irving, Lillard, Steph, CP3, Isaiah Thomas, Goran Dragic, Kemba Walker, Kyle Lowry, Jeff Teague and on and on. You know what they all are doing? Winning more games than Ricky so what's Ricky's excuse? Towns is playing like an all-star this year and you only need two of those to be able to hover around .500, so if Ricky is so great, why are we at only 17 wins? Face it. Ricky has been a stat stuffer on a bad team, not an actual difference maker in the one thing that matters which is W-L.

I've done it. I believe Jim Peterson did it last week too. Rajon Rondo. Also, this board fixated on offense offense offense, but if we're being accurate, that has never been the problem for as long as we've had Rubio. The problem has been team defense. Defense wins championships. It sounds cliché, but even that was what took the Warriors from 4/5 seed in the West to a title contender and eventual winner. Defense. Rubio's good on that end. We still get thrashed on that end. Defense must be improved before we discuss scoring from the PG spot.

So are you admitting that great teams do or don't have bad shooters as their primary ball handler? Typical deflection. You wont be able to find a great NBA team in history with as bad of a shooting primary ball handler as Rubio except for Bob Cousy. So there you go. If only we can rebuild the 60s celts then we can reinvent the NBA again.

I can't see trading Ricky until we have a better option in place. Or unless we are blown away with an offer. Russell from LA would be a guy I would trade him for, but the Lakers are not making that move.

Rondo finished at the Rim. Id be ecstatic if Rubio could get his awful shooting anywhere near Rondo.
Great offenses win championships too. Look at offensive ranks of championship teams we need to be much better on both sides of the ball. Rubio has to take a good deal of the blame since he holds the ball more than anyone on the court.

Blame for what? We'd be much worse with Ricky out. There is a reason he's ranked 5th overall among point guards in real plus minus. Ricky has a very positive impact on our offense and defense:

Some of you forget that just two seasons ago we could score with just about any team in the league. We had one of the most potent starting fives in basketball and that was with Corey Brewer in the damn lineup. Ricky orchestrated that. We were terrible defensively and we had a poor bench.
Suddenly, it looks like we might have corrected the problem in having guys that can fill it up (Towns, Wiggins, LaVine) AND defend, though work is still needed on that end, and you still think Rubio's the problem?
This notion that Rubio hurts your offense is one of the dumbest topics we've had on this board. Offensively, we're always a threat with him on the floor. It's not conventional, but damn, this team has shown they can score with him out there. The stats back it up. WE STILL CANNOT DEFEND. That's the bigger issue and it's one that Rubio is actually not the problem at.
This shit gets annoying.
