If that man can't afford the tickets, simply don't buy them. Buying a ticket does not give a person carte blanche. Today AP said the Raven's fans were awful for throwing snowballs at them. I saw a comment from a Raven's fan "I spend $150 each game on my season tickets. I can do whatever I want." Really? I'm sure you're not hurting for cash if that's the case and if you're willing to pay above face value for an NBA ticket, I think you'll be okay. You talk about monetary value. Well there isn't an amount in the world I'd trade for a family member.

I didn't make the thread to claim Love was "right" or "wrong."
I thought it was an interesting situation, and one that would incite a decent discussion about sports and fandom. This issue is deeper than "it's only a game", "life is more important" or "everybody grieves differently."
Because what if it turns into 2 games. Or, another player takes 3 or 6 or 9 games off for an immediate family member. Obviously, Love and the team worked it out. But did the Wolves really have a say in it? Should they have? What about football players? They only play 16 games, each one is critical. How much say does the employer (sports franchise) have in these situations... and more importantly, how much should they have?
There's no hard and fast rules. I was just interested to see the reactions.

If that's what he really needs to do, then I'm not gonna be the one to judge.
Some things in life are beyond our control. He got a night off. He'll be back the next game. If it's a situation like Adelman's where he has to be there for as long as it takes, so be it. Not that I think Love would milk someone else's death just to stay away from the court, which is the important thing.
