KG's always been my favorite. His 2004 season gave me tears of joy. I contend that Boston turned him into a dirty player. Always liked his intensity, energy and all-around game. Nobody could stop that 14 ft. jumper in his prime.

Magic Johnson was my favorite player in the 80's and I still believe he was a better overall player than MJ. I know Im in the minority there but he was such a great leader/ competitor. I think he went to 9 finals in his 12 year career? People say that he had great players around him, and Ill agree that Kareem was great. But I think he made the rest of those guys who they were as players.. As a rookie he filled in for an injured Kareem at center and put up 42pts 15rebs and 7 assts! Him , Barry Sanders and Bo Jackson are 3 three athletes that really left me wanting more at the end of their careers.

Ill always be a huge KG fan, aside from him putting the Wolves on the map as a credible professional basketball team I also think hes the reason the team remained here. The way that team was playing at the time and the lack of a legitimate fanbase the organization was headed down the toilet and out of Minnesota. Also he's been in the league 19 years and is still considered the type of player that can be a vital cog to a championship team. Most guys that stick it out that long are bench players that never see the court. Hes never been in trouble with the law and while opponents hate him, by all accounts almost every teammate of his has described him as very loyal to those around him.

Ill also agree with everyon else on here and say that Durant seems like a great guy and is fun to watch, Ive never seen a player make playing the game of basketball look so easy,, Plus its really good for the game that LBJ and Durant are goin to spend the prime of their careers facing eachother. It could potentially be a poor mans version of Magic vs Bird.

Another guy I love is Rajon Rondo. He is extremely crafty and has made himself into an elite PG despite being a highly flawed outside shooter.

Are you just trying to get a rise out of me? Rondo? He who can't get along with coaches and teammates and who is highly overrated? That Rondo? Watch him this year without the big 3 next to him. We'll see how good he is and how many problems he causes. Sheesh, your favorite player? Ridiculous.

Cool, First off, I didn't say he was actually my favorite player. I don't even know if I have one. I could probably rattle off a few guys I love to watch, but KD and Rondo were the two that came to mind first. While I can't say Rondo is the easiest guy to get along with or best overall PG in the league, I just love the way he plays on the floor. The dude is a really unique player.

Matty, since you're a big Stockton fan, doesn't this team remind you of a more up-tempo Stockton/Malone Jazz team with Rubio/Love and Co.? I don't think that team had any other great players.

BB Trent Tucker, The Jazz had also pure shooter Jeff Hornacek and big defensive center Greg Ostertag.

I don`t think the Utah Jazz of the 90`s doesn`t reminds our roster at all. The N.B.A. was diffrent back then, there was one superstar on every team - The Jazz had two: Karl Melone (Very strong and dominanting the low post) on his prime and Stockton.

There offense was isolating Malone and Stockton for the P&R and at the end giving the ball to Malone at the low post (sometimes Hornacek was cutting for easy layups) or for a midrange shot by Melone.

Melone was unstopable on those days.

Unfortunately, We don`t have that kind of player on our roster or even close to that, although I realy like our roster this coming year (As a team we might be even better team then Utah in the 90`).

I know this is supposed to be the positive thread, but I'm not going to let the positive comments about Stockton/Malone go unchallenged. That Utah squad was my least favorite team of all time, and Stockton and Malone were two of the dirtiest NBA players ever. I was a season ticket holder back then, and I would often have my binoculars focused on one or the other of them, and my blood pressure would always rise. Both of them used their elbows nastier than anyone else I ever saw (only Dennis Rodman approached their level) and Stockton compounded his dirtiness by setting some of the ugliest illegal screens ever. Both of them seemed intent on injuring their opponent. I never understood how Stockton maintained his choir boy good-guy image with the fans...it certainly wasn't the image he had with his opponents.

Coincidentally, a run in with Malone is one of the reasons Sam Mitchell is my favorite NBA player ever. I don't remember all the details, but the players' union was on the verge of voting for a strike years ago. Several players were gathered in a hotel meeting room to discuss next steps, and Mitchell was leading the "no strike" group while Malone was the leader of the "strike" group. Malone of course was the most physically intimidating player in the league back then, and at a particularly tough moment he went in to his thug mode, blocked the doorway, and said "Anybody who plans to vote no strike will have to walk by me". Sam went into that cool walk of his, shuffled by Malone, and said "I'm walking by you....right now". Not long after the players voted to play. No questions about it, Sam was cool...and he could hit that 15 footer too.

Eitan, I think Martin can be our Horny and Pek is better than Ostertag. Not sure if it's that much different than the 90's, just the "Big 3" and "superstar" marketing has changed. LST, I'm glad I got your blood boiling! That's a good Sam-I-Am story. I didn't realize how dirty Stockton was.
