"You see things in practice and everything else," Adelman said. "If you see a young guy who has talent? And there is a spot there, for minutes? You have to put him on the floor and you've got to let him make mistakes. Because that's how they're going to learn. I've always thought this was a game of mistakes. It's just that you don't want too many. But you have to try things, to work through it."

Clearly according to Adelman's logic Shabazz just doesn't have talent like Shved.
That's the way I read it at first, doper, but then I realized Adelman was doing something different here. He's trying to justify why Shabazz isn't getting minutes. He is saying there are two things needed to get minutes...talent and available minutes. I think he is saying that both have talent, but Shved gets to play because there is no competition for the backup SG spot. His logic is that Muhammad doesn't play because there aren't available minutes for him. That's where I disagree with him, as I stated in the original post. There are available minutes for Shabazz, because 1) he doesn't exactly have Hall of Famers ahead of him and 2) several of the SF's can also play the 2 in Adelman's system (and be as effective defensively as Martin).
I sense that Adelman might be on the defensive about not giving minutes to his rookies, and this is his preemptive shot.

I actually agree with you totally. I was really just trying to be silly with my comment. I did think it was a good quote for this discussion. Adelman is on the defensive too and he should be, by all accounts we have fallen well short of expectations. When you get nothing for so long you should be creative. He should have been able to find minutes for Shabazz a while ago. I just think it is funny how he can go to battle for Shved like this. Reaks of a desperate man.
