The fact that we're worried about this is a bigger problem than the pick protection itself. If we were on our way to the playoffs, nobody would care about this. A part of me kinda wishes we lose the pick anyway just to rid ourselves of this. This team shouldn't be playing to avoid cashing in that pick for someone else. If it happens, it happens.

I wouldn't be as worried about it if we didn't have such a dearth of assets. If the Wolves don't have a draft pick summer, what do they really have to work with?

Not necessarily, cool. A pessimist could see it playing out like this. Wolves get the 13th pick this year, and improve just enough to make the playoffs in 2015, but not enough to convince Love to stay. We lose our pick to Phoenix in 2015, and Love to free agency.

I'm just presenting a worst case, and it's not too much of a stretch. Personally, though, I think Love is staying.

I think he'll stay if we make the playoffs. If we don't, I wouldn't be surprised if he left

Yeah. He might eventually leave, but if we make the playoffs I'm sure he would at least pick up his option for one year.

He'll opt out no matter what, even if he intends to resign with the Wolves.

do you truly think the 13th pick is going to lead to something amazing? All it's gonna lead to is another pick Flip won't like and another player that won't get much PT.. If you deal it, what are you realistically expecting back?

The only way the pick is an asset is if we draft someone that will get a chance to succeed and be developed correctly, something neither Flip nor this organization has EVER demonstrated.
