Nice quarter for Dieng. I think we knew this before, but he is a much better rebounder than Steamer...on both the defensive and offensive boards. Blocks out well and reacts well to the ball (something Steamer could never do). 5 rebounds in just over 10 minutes.

Sorry if I'm gushing about Deing, but he is having some dominant minutes. Very quick hands on defense, and he has been credited with 3 steals (I think they missed another one). Just hit a nice step back mid ranger.

Muhammad back in, and an immediate turnover (smh).

Gotta go, but this is a blowout win for the Wolves, led by our big men and a bunch of guards who wont be on the team. Let's hope Dieng can continue to progress...very solid game.

Just checking back in now. Long.....you might give Lip a run for his money :-). It is interesting that Shabazz got the least amount of playing time in the group of starters. Dieng didn't get much PT either, but he definitely made the most of it. It is nice to see Dieng make the impact.

Good point about Dieng being a better rebounder than Steamer. Steamer's rebounding is the weakness to his game. Once he came into games last year, we lost any rebounds from the C position.

I am disappointed that Shabazz isn't getting more playing time. I definitely can see Cool complaining about Adelman not giving the right players the PT that they need to develop. ~

11-18 from 3PT land........humm.....I wonder if Wolves management is looking to improve the 3Pt shooting from last year.

As an Illini fan I'd love to see Brandon Paul land somewhere. I was kind of shocked he dropped as far as he did.

Brandon Paul is BUILT! He played very well today. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone on this team will make the Wolves roster (other than CJ, Shabazz and Dieng). Some might get invites to camp, but I won't be surprised if we only carry 14 once the season begins.

I think Robbie Hummel deserves the 15th roster spot. Solid player, can do a little bit of everything. I'm certainly not sold on him being up to Turiaf's level as a seasoned towel waver or dancer, but I'm sure he could learn a thing or two!

I'm with you, markbu, on wishing Shabazz was getting more minutes in these summer league games. But I think there are two reasons why he is not. First, there is an obligation to give the free agents and D-League players on the roster enough burn to allow them a chance to catch on with a team...I suspect that's a commitment they make to these journeymen to get them to show up. Secondly, he's just not playing very well right now. He seems to be struggling with adjusting to the speed and size of the pro game, and there might be some concern about his losing confidence. I'm still optimistic about Muhammad, but he was awful today.

I'm agree, Matt, that Hummel is making a strong case for making the roster. Zgoda thinks the Wolves are more likely to add a guard, but Hummel handles the ball so well the Wolves might think he fits the criteria they are looking for. He deserves it.
