Re: Troy Daniels
Daniels had a rough night. He forced shots that weren't open instead of taking what the defense gave him. I don't see him as a guy you run plays for (i.e. running him off of tons of screens) in an overt attempt to get him shots. Instead, he should be used as a floor spacer that gets open shots off of high pick and roll action or transition. It seems like Flip is trying to force-feed him shots. That's the wrong approach IMO. He's not Reggie Miller, curling off of multiple screens for quick catch-and-shoot jumpers.

I get it Cool. Still too early to make an conclusions on this guy, although he did have some pretty good looks later in the game. I'll hold my opinion until we get Ricky back and hopefully he gets some much better setups. This running out to the arc and turning, and firing, just isn't a good shot. Why is it every other team gets their guys looks while they are parked at the arc. Oh yeah, that is because it's against our D.

That was my point SJ. I'm not saying he isn't going to be a good asset. We just need to slow our roll on him.

The one thing I don't get is Flip's lack of 3 pt shooting in his philosophy and then as soon as he gets Daniels he has Daniels' curls go out to the 3 point line and nobody else. You shouldn't have to be a 40% 3 pt shooter for Flip to let you curl to the 3 point line. That should be the norm, not the exception. I'm also not a fan of Flip running a half dozen of the exact same curl play for Daniels as soon as he checks in. Daniels is a floor spacer. You let him float on the outside and let the natural ball movement get him looks. He's getting extremely tough looks because the defense knows what's coming as soon as he checks in. I just refuse to believe that his playbook is this restricted without Ricky. Running the same plays 4 or 5 times in a row is just stupid and makes us easily defendable. Give Dieng some post up opportunities. Force Zach to split the double team or work harder to get around the hedge. Just do something different. It is unwatchable basketball right now and blaming the personnel is getting old the longer we have the same core of guys playing.

Totally agree. His looks need to come from the natural flow of the offense.
