Thad Young could have scored 40 last night and still been terrible. C'mon Abe, don't just read the box score and pick out the stats to support your devil's advocacy. Watch the game and see the lazy incompetence and carelessness that make him a liability night in and night out.

Wait a minute. I ripped Young A LOT in my posts. I'm just pointing out that almost EVERYBODY is playing terrible ball. And even though Young is playing with inconsistent effort and results defensively, how bad would the scorn be toward him if he wasn't averaging 20 ppg on 50%+ shooting over the past two games.
Even though he's been the most efficient offensive player several posters still want him gone. Fair enough. I simply shudder at how much you'd hate him if he was shooting 40% or averaging only 10 ppg over the past two.
I'd fear for his family.

His offensive efficency is the same as our rookies. Are we really going to look at two games?

Abe, it really doesn't matter if his shot is dropping or not. I can call the play, high pick and roll with Lavine looping a pass over the big to Thad at the top of the circle, pump fake, then everyone on the Wolves stops and watches Thad shoot, dribble drive for floater, or dribble the ball off his leg which then leads to a 3 on 1 fast break the other way. This is not an NBA offense. You would think Thad is all of a sudden channelling Dirk! I think poor Jim Pete is gonna have an aneurysm as he shouts "MOVE THE BALL!"

When we're starting threads about the two worse things in that particular game... yes.
It seems to make sense to look at efficiency in individual games then.

Once again, I'm not giving Young a pass. But he's not the only guy on the team who doesn't move the ball. The Wolves are arguably the worst team in the NBA for many reasons. To pile it all on Young and Budinger every game seems a bit convenient.
Again, I think that's because we expect them to play smarter and more consistently than rookies and other young guys.

I agree with Abe on this one. Young is part of the problem. But I'm not sure how he became the scapegoat for all that is wrong with this defense. Every single guy on this team needs to play better on defense. I don't even know how you can single one person out?
Young has a track record. He's not great by any means. But he can be decent player in the right fit. It just doesn't look like a great fit right now. I still hope things come around. Otherwise giving up a 1st round pick for him will go down as a Kahn like move by Flip.

Carlos, his defense is reprehensible, but that's not what bothers me the most about him. It's getting picked clean like he's never played before, or being so careless I can hardly stand seeing him with the ball in his hands. He's a terrible example for our young guys. And he's not a good enough shooter to keep hoisting them up when he's off. But he does it. It's not like he's Kevin Martin who you hope will eventually catch fire. He's just not conducive to winning.

Not to mention he sets the weakest screens I've ever seen. He generally just rubs me the wrong way when he is on the court

But you didn't look at his stats for one game, you combined the last two. Which way would you like it Abe?
Also Young wasn't the most efficient offensively. That would go to Daniels for the last game.
