The Faried deal is being reported inaccurately. A player on a rookie contract can't get a 5-year deal for less than the max.

From what I have seen the reported deal is indeed accurate but possibly not legal. Apparently Denver is discussing with the NBA the verbiage of the terms because they feel they have a case to give him that deal.

By this offer, Rubio could be overpaid, but on the other hand it could be a steal, if Rubio will have a very good season next season.

Any thoughts?

Best case, he is WORTH deal like this....I don't think there is any risk of this type of deal being a steal. I still think he is an $8-9M type player, even in future market.

Good signing for hornets. Kemba for 4yr/48m. Thats the ideal amount for rubio but he will definitely go higher.

A 4yr/52m deal or 5 yr 65m deal is reasonable for rubio. The most Im willing to go for rubio is the same 5yr 70m deal bledsoe signed for. I hope it gets done before the deadline.

I haven't really seen this guy play much since college. Looking at the ESPN stats page and asking myself what exactly is this guy good at? What makes him better than say Brandon Jennings thats a year older making almost half as much money. I hope I'm missing something really significant and I'd like to hear what it is.

Is doper the only one that sees this?!?!

People...the NBA just signed a new TV deal in the 24BILLLION dollar neighborhood-----this is about 3 times the current one.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/2014/10/05/nba-tv-deal-espn-turner/16790187/

The problem with is this that it won't be in play until the 16-17 season-----just in time for Ricky's new contract to kick in.

http://hoopshype.com/salaries/minnesota.htm

If I were Flip, I take and grab Rubio at 13M per (as oppose to max). and call it a day without any hard feelings. Cause over the lifetime of the contract (5 years), it's only going to be 10M more.

10M is a lot but when your salary cap goes up to 100M per or that neighborhood----it's going to seem very low (We would be paying an extra 2M per for main clog that runs the ship----cheap if you ask me).

Look Lebron is already taking that approach (no long deal----his is a one and opt out). The smart money for Ricky is wait. This team---full of athletic wings--- are going to make him look even better.

Pay him Flip before it goes higher! LOL.
