Ha, I'm still skeptical, Tim...difficult for me to believe that a new shooting coach is going turn Ricky into a great jump shooter. But I'm also open to the possibility, and I have to admit he looks different in this video...and clearly had more success.

Ultimately, I'm bullish on Ricky whether he can hit his jumper or not, because I still think he can score 15 PPG on layups, FT's and occasional 3-point set shots. But if he can also become an average jump shooter, his ceiling goes up. And if defenders have to respect his jumper, it makes him a better passer too. Let's hope it's not a mirage.

Ricky isn't really like anybody else. Right now he isn't in Curry's stratosphere, but he could be, He'll never shoot or score as well as Curry, but he will always defend and distribute much better. If he can become a 15+ PPG scorer, and I believe he can, I take him over Steph all day.

PPG: 12.5
APG: 8
RPG: 4
FG%: 36%

I agree with others that Ricky will probably score a bit more this year by necessity, but the reality is that typically when a player is asked to score more, his FG% actually dips....which is not good. I actually really think that Ricky on the high side hits 38%, but could drop below 35% if he is asked to score a ton. That is simply not his deal.

Boy, it's hard to tell watching this video if anything has fundamentally changed or if he just happened to be making them that night.

He definitely seems bigger and stronger than in the past and hopefully that helps him maintain better body control around the rim, such that he finishes a higher % of shots and gets fouled more.

No problem being less optimistic but i don't see how it could be mathematically possible for him to be shooting more shots at the same FG% and end up with less ppg? I just don't see how his scoring average can't go up with Love gone unless Flip decides to bench him for his poor shooting.

Do you think he will be shooting more shots?

I'm not so sure. Now he has some more athletes on the team that he can use his passning skills on instead of constantly feeding Love.

Rubio will be counted on to score more. Wiggins is not an advanced offensive player and the two guys that are pretty advanced - Martin and Pekovic - are going to have their minutes tuned down in order to save the wear and tear on their bodies. And then there is Young, who is not even close to the scorer Kevin Love is.
