Thanks Tim, good info.

Yeah, I wish Rubio would forgo a summer with the Spanish team. He's been playing for them for years now; give it a break just one summer to focus on an uninterrupted summer on shooting!

I can see the Sixers giving up a lottery pick to gain a key player or asset. They're still waiting on a couple of lottery picks to actually play in a game, and the wait is going to continue. Eventually you have to get some sure things on your roster and stop pushing back your future.

Then maybe the three-way with the Sixers consists of the Wolves getting the Sixers 2015 first round pick rather than Thad Young. There is no chance of the Wolves getting both unless the Sixers are the team that gets Wiggins.

Could be. The thing is the Philadelphia market is not a patient one, and that patience has already been stretched past the comfort zone.

Another interesting note is what both Cleveland and Minnesota view as their needs beyond Love for Wiggins/Bennett. Minnesota we know: they do not have anyone they believe is ready to be a starting PF. But Cleveland is looking for a veteran SG who can play 20 minutes and is very good from 3-point range. However, Cleveland is already maxed out in how much salary they can take back in the trade, and I don't see anyone else on their roster they can add in. Unless they want to move Waiters.

Of course, Ray Allen signing for the minimum would solver their problem!

For Minnesota's starting PF, Philly is not the only team in play. Using my own sleuthing, Sacramento has Jason Thompson or Carl Landry that could be available. And Denver has boatload of bigs - maybe someone like JJ Hickson is available.

And on the lottery pick, people seem to think the Miami pick has a chance to be in the lottery...

Regarding the Miami pick - Dwayne Wade is almost shot with the same knee condition that Roy had. If he can't play more than 50 games they will be battling for one of the last playoff positions. Too bad the East is so weak they will probably get in by default.

Tim -- no way the Miami pick can be considered a "for sure top lottery pick" which was the term used in the JAF post. That's why that part of what JAF was told doesn't ring true.

Miami should be pretty dad this season. But I agree the weak East may allow the Heat to slip into the playoffs. But I still like the Miami pick, which should be somewhere in the 12-17 range. Flip should definitely insist on getting that pick in the deal. I like the Memphis pick too. It is so well protected initially that it's highly unlikely Memphis would have to give it up in 2015 or 2016. But I believe it is unprotected or only top 5 protected in 2017 and by that time, Memphis could be a low lottery team.

Especially if Gasol decides to walk.

Exactly, Cam. I really think that Memphis pick could be a gem. Which is why I'm hoping that Flip holds out for that pick as well as the Miami pick. Or perhaps that pick become the key in getting Thad Young in a 3-way with the Sixers.
