Okay... guess the player....
"he was a tremendous athlete with a strong body that looked like it was going to get better," Thorn says. "He was competitive, and a fair shooter. Good ball handler, though not a great one at that time, but a good one, and a good defensive player. His shooting was what we were concerned with. We didn't know what kind of shooter he was going to turn out to be."

Re: Ricky and Wiggins
I think people are underating Ray's ball handling. When he went to Seattle those years he became even more obviously the prototypical SG that wasn't the superstar like Kobe, Jordon etc. IMO what kept Ray from being that uber star was it wasn't quite his style and I think his size (was a tad undersized) hurt him a little and I don't remember him being a killer finisher around the rim. I'm not saying he was bad around the rim and he was very athletic but he wasn't gonna go dunk on people or make crazy shots in traffic. I'd be trilled if Wiggins had Ray's handle seriously that would be above average and with Wiggins size and quickness damn he would be tough to cover assuming he also has the jumper that looks reasonable to project and that stepback.

Michael Jordan.
Re: Ricky and Wiggins
I just can't see what is really wrong with Wiggins handle at all. I just think he hasn't been challenged enough to have to improve that area of his game. But the kid's attitude is top notch. He reminds me of Tmac.

Looks like an analysis of a Wiggins except for the reference to ballhandling as a strength. Note that no one ever questioned Jordan's assertiveness or ability to finish at the rim. Actually, I don't think Wiggins has any trouble finishing at the rim. So maybe this is t Wiggins. Could this be LaVine?

A few people have mentioned McGrady when I've read about Wiggins on the internets, but I think he was a guy with better ball handling ability coming out of HS than Wiggins is now and here is some clips of him doing it right out of HS in NBA games. Bonus points becasue you get to see a couple of former Wolves play in Oliver Miller and Reggie Slater on the Raps and Luc Longly for the Bulls. LOL I get the comparisons with physical traits and other parts of their games its just McGrady was such a good player with the ball in his hands.

I just don't see Wiggins as not a good player with the ball in his hands. I just see that his moves aren't fine tuned because it was so easy for him up to this point. He is going to be really good and potentially great, I have full confidence that he can get his shots in the NBA. I get the sense that people are comparing his ball handling to Wally or something here. He is such a great athlete and has a killer attitude towards working on his skills that he will be fine with the ball in his hands.
