Chris Broussard ? @Chris_Broussard

Hearing that Luol Deng will not take significantly less than his market value to join Heat

That's probably where I got this. I think it's unlikely he ends up on the Heat. And I agree, I want them to get no part of Lowry or Deng (or any other player who could actually be a difference maker for them). Fortunately, money talks and most of the players that they'd like, haven't made $200 million and won't likely take half their max potential salary to play with the Heat.

I think it'd be an interesting dynamic if somehow the Heat came up dry in free agency on the mid-tier players... If that happens, does LeBron re-evaluate the situation there since there'd be no reason to expect them to get better?

He'd probably sign for one year and then re-evaluate his situation next year.

Could, but I'd argue there's more teams ready with open cap space this season due to all the big name free agents, and it also puts him at risk to gamble hundreds of millions of dollars (if he were to get a major injury) just to keep his options open.

I think a true difference maker and big name free agent will be wary of signing with the heat even with the big 3 back. Thats why I dont see lowry, deng or even ariza going there.

First, it takes more than 3 players to form a team and we saw the heat got dominated by the deeper and more balance spurs. You can also see that wade is declining pretty fast and bosh isnt a number 2 guy on a championship team that has no strong supporting cast.

lebron, wade and bosh arent the easiest guys to play and build a team around too unless your a shooter. Also, it takes a certain gratification for beating the heat and the players feels that as well. They can probably make the playoffs and go deep but the 3 with a bunch of vets making the minimum isnt going to win another title.

It probably didn't help that the Heat gambled on Oden and lost. He would have really helped their front line that was getting bullied by the Spurs left and right.

Humphries is an idiot who will relish the glitz of South each and playing with LeBron. Both Deng and Humphries have already made big money, so I can see them taking less to play for the Heat.

Doubtful on Deng. If the Bulls miss out on Melo watch them go hard to bring him back.

It's not even a guarantee that Lebron, Wade & Bosh all resign there. Apparently they are making moves and if Lebron is happy with the moves he may resign which would then lead to Wade & Bosh. We've heard chatter about those 2 taking pay cuts to stay there, but their agents reportedly said that's false. It'll be interesting.

I don't see how they build a championship team even if they sign LeBron, Bosh, Lowry, and Wade. They don't fit together. They would be better off not signing Wade and Lowry in my opinion. If LeBron doesn't come back would they opt not to sign Wade at all?

Good point BigTen, you're probably right that LeBron is waiting to see what the Heat do before making his decision. Interesting. With that said, I think it's a given they re-sign Wade, or at least attempt to. (Chicago being the only other possibility I see).
