Hood's definitely a SF. Good overall offensive game that could translate at either wing position, but determing a player's position comes from who he can defend, in my opinion. Hood's atrocious on defense, would get destroyed every possession guarding NBA SGs. He does have the size for SF, though, so a team might be able to hide his flaws on that end. He just doesn't have that dog in him to get after it on D. Rarely in a good defensive stance, sucks at closing out and has average at best lateral quickness. SF is the only place he could hide on defense.
As a SG on my big board, he'd be No. 6 after Jabari Brown.

I know you have said you didn't see him play much this year, but how much did you really watch Exum (rated 2nd) or Hairston (rated 3rd)? If Zach LaVine is the 5th best SG, and the only thing he showed this year is that he can jump high, Petteway has to be at least 3rd. 18.1 PPG in the Big Ten with defenders draped all over him, an explosive finisher at the rim, and a tossup with Harris as the best defending SG in the draft...with an incredible motor. Really fun guy to watch on both sides of the court. And despite the punch he threw on the court last season, by all accounts a good guy. Here's his writeup on nbadraft.net. http://nbadraft.net/players/terran-petteway
Same overall rating as Harris and Stauskas. Lots of positives, and the only negative is he needs to cut down on his turnovers (2.8 per game). I think turnover reduction happens naturally when he is no longer "the man". You're not alone in leaving him off your draft board (perhaps because he hasn't announced yet), but I can't believe a 6'6" SG who led the Big Ten in scoring and is a relentless defender isn't going to come out.
I guess you can put this one to bed Long -

Wow. good find, sjm. I guess once you've seen Lincoln, Nebraska, it's difficult to imagine being anywhere else. Still, gotta admit I'm stunned that the scoring champ in the best conference wouldn't come out. I did a little more digging, and maybe this quote that didn't get in the article might shed some light on the situation:
Petteway was pressed on why he decided not to enter the draft, and he said "I'm really angry that Camden0916 hasn't been giving me any love. He recently put out his list of best draft picks by position, and I didn't even crack the top ten shooting guards! Can you believe that? Camden is influential with NBA general managers, so once I saw that list, I knew I was dropping out of the first round. So I made two decisions. To return for my junior year, and to track this Camden0916 down!"
