Rudy to the Celtics for Horford, D. White and a future lottery-protected 1st. The Celtics might go for this if they fail to win it all this season and even more so if they don’t come out of the East. The Celtics have plenty of scoring in Tatum, Brown, Smart and Brogdon. I think Rudy fits well with the Celtics.
Yeah, White would be a very good get and it would add back one of our lost 1sts.
It does seem like the Celtics are going to need to get another pure Center at some point, although of all the positions to have a gap in, it's probably the easiest and cheapest to fill. You don't have to go all-in on a Rudy like we did last offseason.
Sadly, you’re right Q. Which is why the trade was so monumentally dumb. But I think the trade I’ve suggested falls well short of what I’d consider all in. On the other hand, I’m sure the Celtics can improve their center position through free agency or a deal that would required them to give up White. It depends on how much they value Rudy. I do think he’d fit well on that team. I don’t see Rudy’s value going up next summer so I think the return this summer will likely be the best we can get for him.

You're joking, right? I wouldn't trade either Gobert or McDaniels straight up for Simmons or Robinson/Lowry, yet you are offering BOTH!?
You got to make salaries work so you really are going to have to accept only the worst possible players on big contracts back. You can't attach 1st rounders to Rudy either, so I see needing to attach McDaniels instead.
I'm sort of joking but I imagine both these teams (Brooklyn and Miami) would accept the offer if it was proposed.
Every player you mentioned in the trades are more of a negative asset then Rudy is. Mcdaniels is not a “attach” piece. It’s very likely you could get at minimum 3 1st rounders for Mcdaniels.
The only way Mcdaniels is traded in the next few years if the wolves go big game hunting and do something like Kat and Mcdaniels for Luka. Kat and Mcdaniels for maybe Zion (I would not do that).
Mcdaniels has such huge value around the league, arguably the best perimeter defender in the league, hits 40% from 3 and his off the dribble game is expanding. Mcdaniels might be a top 30 trade asset with everything involved in the league.

If you really want to trade Rudy something like.
Rudy for Lonzo, Patrick Williams, Dalen Terry and a pick. (Rumors of a Williams, Vucevic and 2 1st last season what the bulls wanted for Rudy)
Rudy for Capela, Hunter and a 1st
Rudy for Hayward, Rozier and a 1st (pretty much a cap cutting move for the wolves)
Rudy for Ben Simmons and a 1st
Rudy and Prince for Gafford, Morris, Wright, Kispet, Davis and the wizards 1st this year top 5 protected
I think the wolves can get 1 pick and solid rotation pieces back for Rudy in general.

They have Timelord for that Gobert role. I would move KAT in a scenario like this to the Celtics. But with a lot more coming back.
That team would be a nightmare with KAT.

Horfords age scares me. He is 36 and signed for 3 more years. He could become unplayable, but then again so could Rudy if his back is an issue that becomes more serious. It's just that I always looked at Horford recently like a big risk to decline rapidly due to age. Not many big guys (or NBA players in general) have played well in their late 30's.
If you think the Wolves will be on a trajectory with Ant who may be entering his prime when Horford is 38/39 do you really want 27 million sitting on the bench?
Then you have to question who is more impactful White or Rudy. As far as wins and losses now and into the near term I think Rudy (barring his health concerns).

Horford is signed for less than 20 million total the next 2 seasons. That wouldn’t hold me back from acquiring him. Meanwhile White has a chance at being the answer of the guy next to Edwards. In the meantime having him backing up Conley and playing other guard minutes instead of guys like Nowell would be a pretty massive upgrade. Again I don’t think the Celtics do this deal but if they would be interested in a Gobert for White deal that would be something I’d be interested in.

That is much more reasonable. If he was 3 year 80 like I thought then that is much worse. Considering his contract isn't that bad I do not think the Celtics do the deal either, especially with Rudy having injury issues and his own sizable contract and his play dropping off. He's not DPOY Rudy. Maybe he can get back to full health. I heard there is another Country team thing again this summer. I pray he doesn't play in that crap. We can't be having our guys getting banged up in the offseason playing in meaningless games again.

To be fair those games aren’t meaningless to the players. For a player like Gobert…yeah I agree with you it likely would benefit the Wolves more if he didn’t play. Hopefully the timing of when they play to when the season is more favorable than last offseason especially since last offseason Gobert was starting with a brand new team.
It’s kinda obvious but any Gobert trade needs to actually improve the team. I get some people want to move him but he is a good player even if he has dropped off some. I think there is a chance he becomes more valuable/has a higher impact next year after playing with the Wolves and the coaching staff seeing in person what he can and can’t do. I’m pretty convinced Finch thought Gobert could do more than he could actually do and that messed things up on offense initially. I’ll say that Gobert did have some nice moments later in the year where he caught the ball in or near the paint and made quick passes out to players on the perimeter. I’m not saying he is Draymond or anything (lol) but that looked like something he could actually do a little not just a fluke type thing and I liked seeing it. Gobert and Towns both need to find their spots. I think both guys care and sometimes simply want to do too much. I don’t see those guys as particularly selfish just want to do too much at times and think of themselves too highly instead of trusting teammates. Some people at this point don’t believe in Finch and I can see why but the coaching staff is going to have a lot to do with whether those guys do or don’t find their way…on both ends.

MIN receives: Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams and 2025 1st RP
BOS receives: Rudy Gobert
Works salary wise and helps us free up 6 mil of cap space.
