My take is that Connelly has done a terrific job this offseason making the most of the little he had to work with.

The problem, and I think most agree it’s a problem, is that “the little he had to work with” is the result of a big swing he took last season. We don’t need to beat that dead horse (please let’s not), but we should acknowledge it.

Now, that big swing could still well work out this upcoming season… but it’s far from a sure thing, and the new CBA will require major reconstruction after next season (if not before).

I’m excited to see how this plays out, and I’m pretty sure the Wolves have gotten incrementally better with every move Connelly has made since taking the big swing. It’s been a while since I could comfortably say that about the Wolves front office. But that larger context certainly takes the edge off of feeling great about all things Wolves.
