You know, if we need Rivers on the roster just to be Ant's hype man (and truth teller if he needs some tough feedback), then it might be worth it.
Ant loved Ricky his rookie year and we traded him away in the Prince deal and Ant apparently got over it. I'd resign Rivers if we can't find anyone else more worthy of a roster spot, but if he isn't resigned, I think Ant will be fine. I would definitely consider adding Rivers to the coaching staff or find another role for him if he can't find an NBA gig somewhere.

One thing I feel really confident about is that Austin will not have a hard time finding something to do relating to basketball after his playing days are over.

FNG - Just wondering if Britney Spears has also tried grabbing you from behind out there in Vegas. I’m worried about you since I know you don’t travel with a security team. And my wife and I aren't there to protect you this time.

Thanks for asking. She just won't leave me alone, and yeah, I don't have my security detail with me...I could have used you out here!

I mentioned that Ant spent the entire game Friday talking with Rivers...he seemed to hang on every word Austin said, so it's quite clear he respects him.
One thing I didn't like about Ant during the game...he devoured a large plate of french fries in about 5 minutes! I hope he gets a little more careful about his diet as he gets older.

No reason to sign Rivers if he can’t keep Ant from eating french fries right in front of him. Screw Rivers!!! Jk
Also fries sound good…scouting summer league games make me hungry.
I’ll mention here that Rivers signed a partially guaranteed deal last offseason and I don’t think he has exactly done enough to garner a better deal than that plus being a year older. At some point down the line if they haven’t signed someone they could sign him to a deal like that and move on later if another option was better.

Just watched the Ant sideline interview again. He said he was surprised by the Beal trade and especially surprised by the Marcus Smart trade. He referred to the Grant Williams deal as good for Dallas. So it’s clear Ant follows the NBA. I think he likes to follow basketball more than he lets on. I also noticed during the interview that his head was on a swivel as his gaze kept getting drawn into the game action. He obviously loves to play the game, but I think he loves the game in general.

As I’m watching the game again, I’m getting a little more negative about Moore. There was one play near the end of the first quarter when Moore had the ball with 10 seconds left on the shot clock. He just dribbled in place, backed up two steps further behind the 3-point line and then shot a brick. Steve Smith really got on him for that, saying that you have to make something happen by driving and either drawing a foul or kicking it out with that little time on the clock. He’s right. That’s pretty basic stuff. Moore isn’t athletically gifted so his chances of success are predicated on his skills and IQ. That sequence was not the sign of a high basketball IQ and he apparently didn’t have the skill set to make anything happen.

Look up the Timberwolves interview by Grady with Ant and his newest dog and see if you think Edwards has paid attention to basketball for more than a few years.

That wasn’t a good play but it was clear Moore was calling for a screen on that play and nobody came partly because I think there were like 3 other players on that side of the floor and I think they got in each other’s way and got confused. Moore should have gotten something better but it wasn’t just on him.
