Shams is reporting Houston is trying to dump him to a team that will take him and his contract for draft picks. Houston is apparently pretty much all in on actually being good.
I always thought the guy was talented and last season although on a crappy team it looked like he really broke through. While we don’t know for sure he is guilty it’s not looking good. The guy may be throwing his career away.

Re: Kevin Porter charged with beating up girlfriend
How about Gobert to Houston for Kevin Porter and several unprotected future 1st round picks? Porter only has one year guaranteed so the Wolves could replenish some of their draft stock and avoid the second-apron cliff they’re headed for next summer. The League will likely suspend Porter for the season and if they don’t the Wolves could. You definitely wouldn’t want Porter actually on the team this season.Monster wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 6:30 am Shams is reporting Houston is trying to dump him to a team that will take him and his contract for draft picks. No, I don't want anything to do with KPJ even if we cut him immediately. I also don't want to trade Rudy unless we get a top flight center or a younger version of him (Kessler, maybeLipoli390 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 12:07 pmHow about Gobert to Houston for Kevin Porter and several unprotected future 1st round picks? One comment about draft picks. This roster is built to compete right now and I don't think we are in the building stage any longer, so draft picks have less value to us in the short term. TC made his bed with Rudy and while like most on this board I hated the trade too, but I'm ready to live with it and TC has shown he can replenish the roster with second round picks and smart signings and we still have a pick next year.
Re: Kevin Porter charged with beating up girlfriend
We just have a different view of where this team is at relative to title contention. I don’t see this team as one that’s ready to win now - as in contend for a title next season. This team will ultimately go as far as Ant and Jaden take it and it will likely be a couple years before they’re ready to take this team to that level. Ant and Jaden are 22 and 23 years old respectively. MJ didn’t win his first title until he was 29. The key will be shaping this team around Ant and Jaden over the next few years and that will require assets and flexibility. The ability to shape the team around them will be unduly constrained by the combined lack of picks from the Rudy trade and lack of financial or transactional flexibility that comes with exceeding the 2nd apron. That’s why, although I’d prefer to trade Rudy, I’m open to trading KAT even though I think he’s undervalued by local fans and national pundits.KG4Ever wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 4:26 pmNo, I don't want anything to do with KPJ even if we cut him immediately. I also believe TC is all in on the Rudy trade and so he isn't trading Rudy, especially for less than half of what we gave up. The second apron isn't a cliff at all and the restrictions aren't all that draconian when a team is fully constructed to contend as I believe the Wolves are. I would think TC had long conversations with the owners about the likely salary implications of the trade before doing it and they signed off. The owners probably will pay the taxes if it comes to a second apron, but only if they are convinced that the team is a serious championship contender. If not, you may be right in that they will trade one of their centers Rudy, Kat or Naz next offseason.

Re: Kevin Porter charged with beating up girlfriend
Lip, that's a reasonable take and that was my view too, to build around Ant and Jaden's timeline. But TC obviously is taking a different approach for now and we can't undo the Rudy trade.
Re: Kevin Porter charged with beating up girlfriend
This may be fools gold, but TC's efforts to win now is not just to be a title contender now, but to accelerate ANT's and McD's so-called timeline. While this wasn't in the plan last year, KAT's injury also served to accelerate their timeline. Plus we not only have the Rudy-first-year-acclimation under out belts, we are beginning the year with more roster stability than I can remember!

Heh, I won't be starting that thread anytime soon, but I will be starting the annual Wins Prediction thread any day now, so we'll see what kind of hopes and dreams people have!60WinTim wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 9:56 am This may be fools gold, but TC's efforts to win now is not just to be a title contender now, but to accelerate ANT's and McD's so-called timeline. Re: Kevin Porter charged with beating up girlfriend
I think you’re right about TC’s approach. I was just half-jokingly suggesting something I’d consider doing. My bottom line ever since the Rudy deal, and confirmed by developments since then, is that the sooner we move on from Rudy the better understanding that we’ll never get back anything close to what we gave up. If all we get is financial flexibility (minimally avoiding the second apron) and a few 2nd-round picks it will be worth it. But I understand it’s highly unlikely TC moves Gobert before next summer if at all.
