This is great news. Mike is not going to play forever, but he doesn't appear to have lost a step since last year...I expect he will still be effective for the next two years. I always thought he would take somewhat of a home team discount, because his wife and kids like it so much here. I'm happy with the deal, but actually thought he might discount even a little more. But it has to be a bonus to have a happy Mike Conley as we play for a championship.

And I'm in the same boat as Jester...I leave it to the smart capologists here to analyze what this means financially for next season.

The thing I like also is the wolves have made the 26 offseason transitioning point. Wolves will be near max cap space with Conley, Naz and Rudy all coming off the books. The flexibility could be amazing going into Ant prime. Players like SGA, Tatum, Mitchell, etc. All are FA that offseason

It’s time to quickly revisit that trade that sent Russell the Lakers.

Outgoing

-Russell

Incoming

-Mike Conley who has been good for the Wolves and then resigned for a very reasonable 2 years 22 million.

-NAW who resigned last offseason for 2 years 9 million and has been a key role player and started games this season and helped fill in during the playoffs last season.

-2nd round pick that was used as a package of 2nd rounders to acquire the draft rights to Leonard Miller

-2024 worse of the Wizards or Memphis 2nd rounder…which is still gonna be a good pick.

-2025 Utah 2nd round pick

Looks pretty good to me.

Yep. And just to piggy back on what you laid out...

VORP since the trade:
3.4 for Wolves Conley (2.8), NAW (0.6)
1.8 for Lakers (DLO)

Money spent for two year extensions:
$30M ($21 for Conley and $9 for NAW)
$36M (DLO)

We got both guys for $6M less than it cost them to re-sign DLO. Conley has out produced DLO by himself so far with regard to VORP. All that plus the second round picks...good job TC!
