Jay struck out 54 and walked only 4 this year for Illinois. Only gave up 4 extra base hits all season! Very polished and likely to start in A ball, and be ready to be used against lefties as the Twins battle for the pennant this September.

I like the pick.

Sounds good the Big 10 seemed like it was pretty good this year. Too bad Erstad and the Huskers fell off the cliff down the stretch. There was bigtime buzz when they were playing well.

longstrangetrip wrote:Our guy Tucker went one pick before us, so Twins take college lefty reliever Tyler Jay, Nasty stuff, with a Chris Sale ceiling. May be ready to contribute as early as this September as a lefty bullpen specialist, and then Twins plan to retool him in the minors as another lefty starter next to Gonsalves. Dez was available, but I like this pick better.

Does anyone know why Cameron didn't get drafted in the first round, was it because of the money?

Jay has electric stuff. I just don't know if he'll be a starter type. Here's how I look at it, though.

Best case: Chris Sale
Medium: Billy Wagner
Floor: Glen Perkins (no disrespect to Perk at all)
