Clark is a thief, he turned Murray over a bunch. He needs reps but could be a damn good player. Maybe a NAW replacement.
Garza just scores and scores and scores. Wish he had the Kevin Love nose for defensive rebounds.

62 fouls called. That’s all you need to know from this game

Game notes:

- Clark is such a dog defensively. Probably over-extends himself going for steals, but he'll eventually find the right balance between taking risks and staying home on guys. Really interested in seeing how he develops offensively in Iowa this year. He's already easily a plus-level NBA defender.

- Nix makes me laugh with his decision making at times, but damn, he gets results out there. That was peak summer league Nix we saw tonight.

- Shannon's shot looks terrible to me. Not even close on his 3-point attempts, 0-10 in five pre-season games. That's going to keep him off the court for now.

- PJ Dozier was probably the worst player on the floor tonight.

- Dillingham will at minimum be a 6th man of the year candidate some day. He's a jitterbug out there offensively with how quick he gets places, gets shots off, and finds people. He may struggle with scoring efficiency early in his career, but he'll figure it out eventually. The defense is the albatross hanging around his neck though. He's just so damn small and weak.

- Minott had a blah game tonight. Made some nice drives to the hoop and got a lot of deflections, but didn't do much otherwise.

- Garza was a scoring machine. Just like Clark is already a plus level NBA defender, Garza is easily a plus-level NBA offensive player. He made multiple shots from awkward distances with Jokic lurking and made it look easy. Just incapable of offering resistance at the rim though on defense and that will always be the issue for him.

- Leonard Miller with a nice showing. He seems best in chaotic, broken situations, as you hardly know he's out there in structured half court sets by either team.

- I thought Jesse Edwards did some nice things.

A couple things to add.

Clark did some nice things offensively considering most expect nothing out of him on that end. He is looking like a pretty nice pick right now.

Wolves played a C squad against the Nuggets playing their main guys and looked just fine. The only players that looked bad were Dozier and KBD. Dozier was tasked at times as The PG playing with a bunch of young guys. Not surprisingly it did not go well. It's preseason and all that but I haven't been as impressed with his D as I had hoped.

Agree on Nix he got enough run to show some of what he can do. He can play D.

Yeah Garza isn't gonna give resistance at the rim and his defensice rebonding isn't great but he does move well and I think he knows what he is supposed to do on defense. It also helps that he is just really strong. He just has to not be a total zero out there considering his abilities on offense.

Yeah Miller did some good things.

I think the guy that surprised me the most in this game was Jesse Edward's. He looked just fine and like he maybe even belonged out there. Looked better than he did in SL. Yeah he had a bunch of fouls but I didn't think he was a hacking machine.

Minott had 3 blocks in this game and continues to look like a guy that's deserving of playing time.

I'm not sure what's up with the Nuggets but they looked bad. Strawther looked good tho. They desperately need one of their young guys to step up.

Ugly, ugly, ugly...nothing to learn from a game where Denver had no interest in playing. My take? The Denver starters were resentful that Malone made them play when Finchie gave his guys the night off, and decided to show him who was really in charge. We turned this one off after the first quarter. If only the Nuggets would pay their players a little more so they would actually think they had to play hard. Sheesh...

I think that was the most noteworthy item as well -- Jesse looked much better than he looked in Summer League. Could our player development program actually be working?!? :)

When we signed him to that two-way, my first thought was he has a lot of similarities to Rudy. And that might be a good thing down in Iowa so our other G-leaguers grow accustom to playing with someone like Rudy. But after SL i wondered if he would stick. His solid performance against Nuggets help solidify his two-way status, IMO.
