I did think Wiseman would be great sadly. Thankfully Rosas was masterful in picking Ant. Speaking of draft, could ace Bailey fall all the way to 17? Guy has turned a lot of people off with his draft process. Would we even want him?

I’m still a fan of Rasheer Fleming. He had a workout with Portland about a month ago and we haven’t heard boo since. Makes wonder if they gave him a guarantee…

Asa Newell and Sorber have both worked out for the Wolves.

First draft night trade from Shams: Spurs trade #38 to Indiana for a future 2nd and cash.

I think I heard Fleming got dinged up in one of his tryouts. Could be wrong on that though.

I've never been a huge draft guy, even during the re-re-rebuild years.

But I might watch tonight. Mostly because I have nothing else going on.

Past Rights:
- Pooh Richardson is a cool name. Too bad the guy can't shoot.
- Who cares if they get Laettner. Only the top two picks in this draft matter.
- Draft Josh Howard... NOT the random guy who sorta kinda held his own while being destroyed in AAU by Lebron James.
- Rashad McCants is the devil. And a horrible person. And a horrible player.
- Steph Curry will be better than both Flynn and Rubio. Hasheem Thabeet will be one of the worst players in the L.
- Why would the Wolves draft a scoring wing (Smilin' Wes Johnson) at #4 when he had never scored more than 16.8 ppg even at the HS level?
- Kevin Love > D. Williams... so don't draft Williams... trade down!
- Tyrese Haliuburton is a hidden gem.

Past Wrongs:
- I'm going to pretend that I wasn't wrong. Ever.

But... I wasn't a fan of Edwards. Nor McDaniels. Oops.

There might have been a few others.

We've all whiffed.

And I think we all tend to overvalue the draft too. The Washington Post had a good article on this today. Since the Wizards pick 6th, they decided to review all the draft picks from 6-10 in 15 drafts from 2006 to 2020. 75 players. The results?

Only 4 out of 75 actually became star players (Dame, Steph, PG, and DeRozan)
12 more out of 75 became high level starters (guys like Julius, Kamba Walker, Jamal Murray)
13 more became regular starters (think Harrison Barnes, Rudy Gay, Eric Gordon)
23 became little more than contributors (guys like Nerlens Noel, Randy Foye, Willie Cauley-Stein)
23 became busts, mostly riding the bench or out of the league in a few years (guys like Patrick O'Bryant, Jimmer, Mudiay, Jonny Flynn, Killian Hayes, etc).

I might quibble with a couple of their categorisations, but it's a good reminder that a lot of these guys getting drafted just don't work out.
It's really only number 1's that REALLY pan out at a high percentage. I think it was something like 50% become HOFers when I looked at the history of the draft. After that you're odds go way down. How many picks did we have since KG left that were JAGs or busts? It's just really rare to get star players after the 1st pick even.

Certainly at 17 or 31 you'd love to get a star, but I might if I were TC look at an older prospect like TJ last year who looked NBA ready. Gambling on upside is just that, gambling. Bring in the 21-24 year old who has shown the ability to play. Then maybe he can continue to get better and even become borderline All Star?

Here LIVE at the draft.

Grady’s hosting in the arena so that’s cool.

Hopefully I walk away happy.

Yep. The best organizations draft high level starters or stars outside the top 10 picks and sometimes in the second round — Jaden McDaniels (28) Desmond Bane (30, Jalen Williams (12), Tyrese Haliburton (12), SGA (11), Jalen Brunson (33), Giannis (15), Jokic (41), Gobert (27), Siakam (27), Jimmy Butler (30), Klay Thompson (11), Draymond Green (35), Kyrie Middleton (39), Gilbert Arenas (31), Marc Gasol (48), Manu (57), Reaves (undrafted), etc.

My top 11 favorites this year who will or might be available at #17:

1. Sorber
2. Belanger
3. Raynaud
4. Fleming
5. Yanic Konan Neiderhauser
6. Hanson Yang
7. Ryan Kalkbrenner
8. Egor Demin
9. Ben Saraf
10. Cedrick Coward
11. Nique Clifford

I’d be satisfied if the Wolves ended up with one or two of these 10 via pick 17 and/or 31.
