The only solace I take in this is that it was just a three-year deal. All eyes are on Rob now, he NEEDS to take that starting PG spot by force.

Reasonable. You're a worse team without him and he did come on for the end of the year minus the stinker against OKC which was a major factor in me wanting him traded. Does his game evolve/team gel enough next year to give us a chance against OKC? Seems like long odds and vegas/everyone else in the world agrees.

We're going to need big steps from guys like DDV/TJ and Clark I think.

The onus is on Finch now to change some of his ways. First, he MUST expand the rotation. Clark and Shannon are too good in their roles not to be a regular part of the rotation and the upside of Dillingham, as Bloop is implying, is too critical to let fester on the bench.

Second, and Finch did gradually show flexibility later in the season, he has to be willing to sit guys for extended minutes and at the end of games if it's just not their night or matchup.

All the main guys have their money and their multi-year deals now. Ant is the top dog and everyone else is part of an ensemble cast without any guarantees around minutes or shots.

I'd love to have Randle getting less than this but I think this is also a reasonable contract for Randle. I'm happy to have him back. I get others aren't. I think Randle is a good player and is getting compensated probably about what he is worth. I think this contract will need to be looked at in the 2026 offseason to see how this deal is viewed.

What I like about this deal is the length of it. 3 years is solid. It's 2 years more than if he had opted in. I didn't want to go longer than 3 years so I'm happy with this deal.

Not a bad contract by the sounds of it for a player of Randle's caliber. I will always question his fit, but bang for buck it seems reasonable.

Any one know how its structured? Player option last year?

You could look at this way. Would you prefer Julius and Naz at 55 mil (combined) next season or Kat at 53 mil?

Kept the salary slot, still a solid player. The “fun” of a new roster is gone
Ha, a new roster can be fun, but it also can be frustrating...we were all mostly frustrated the early part of the season as our core got used to playing with Ju and Donte. I might argue that if Finchy really does use Rob, Shannon and Clark more this year (and to Q's point, he needs to), we'll experience some of the fun of a new roster. But as for me, I'll take continuity any day...especially coming off another WCF.

While I'm happy to have a guy like Randle back for three more years, I am wary of WildWolf's concerns about him, since he knows him best. I guess I'm counting on not seeing the NYC version of Ju, because it's pretty clear a country boy like him was never comfortable in the big city...and neither was his country girl wife. The podcast guys I listen to all rave about Randle's maturity and character, and he also adds a dose of toughness to the roster which I like. I think Ju's face has a lot to do with the public's impression of him. There was a ballplayer years ago, Jeffrey Leonard, who had one of the best ever nicknames...Penitentiary Face. It was even scary looking at his baseball card! Unfortunately, Ju has a little bit of a penitentiary face...he just looks mean and unhappy at times. But the guys who cover the team say he is a great teammate, and very happy to be playing here.

This is about what I expected TC would be giving him, and I'm glad to have him back. There will be some minor hickups early in the season incorporating Rob into the rotation, but I expect us to hit the ground running in October looking a lot like the team that finished the season 17-4 before winning two playoff series.

But as Lip and I always caution everyone, even though Randle can't be moved for a few months, it doesn't mean TC is done...

I'm very happy with both of these contracts (Randle and Reid). Are they slight overpays? Probably, but they aren't bad contracts and they are both in movable ranges.

I've liked Randle since Kentucky and I do feel like we now know exactly who needs to step up for us to get over the hump. I just hope Dilly knows what's expected from him this offseason

Wow, our superstar GM really butchered this Reid/randle situation. He should have been able to leverage each against the other (unless that’s another unhinged take, Aussie)

I would have tried trading both of these guys, realizing that I might have to keep the one with lower trade value. Neither are #2 or #3 options next to Ant on a championship team, and that’s what we needed.

As I’ve been saying all along, who were you bidding against here TC? I’m done defending this guy… what an idiot. If another team is dumb enough to trade a first in order have enough to sign Randle to 3/100, you laugh and say good luck fools.

We will be hating him by the end of year 1. Like, wanting to attach good assets to dump him type of hatred
I wouldn't have been happy with a 5 year deal, but a three year deal is fine. Guy put up 25 per game against Golden State in round 2 of the playoffs. OKC was a struggle for him. Both Naz and Randle should be movable contracts while getting value back if they ever decide to move on from one of them.

Randle wasn't a movable contract with 1 year being the player option left on the deal without attaching something good with him.

I'm only saying this because I saw how this played out in NY. It's a rollercoaster with him.
