Derrick White was the dream this past off-season. Just a near ideal backcourt mate for Ant, although starting to age a bit.60WinTim wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 7:49 pm Yeah, Quickley was high on my radar as well. But Toronto is playing really well. I see absolutely no reason they would even think of trading him.
Derrick White is interesting because he's several years older than Tatum and Brown. A sweet enough deal might just pry him away.
Or we could pick up Monte Morris...
Or work on ANT's "so-called" lead guard abilities. I don't know if that is Finch, or someone else, but that avenue seems like our best bet.

The "aging" part is the only reason he would be available...Q-is-here wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 8:02 pmDerrick White was the dream this past off-season. I think Pritchard would also be a good candidate from the C's.

True, and the fact that it's a retooling year for Boston with Tatum out.60WinTim wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 8:27 pmThe "aging" part is the only reason he would be available...Q-is-here wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 8:02 pmDerrick White was the dream this past off-season. Re: Trade season
Unless you're trying to buy low on some distressed player hoping you can uncover the next NAW, trade season is gonna be very dry here.
Any Rudy trade is predicated on either Beringer being ready to take on all the PT (he's not) or being able to live with Randle and Naz at 5 and 4 (we're not)
Mike's not going anywhere because I believe they'll honor their word by not trading Mike.
I don't think they'll pursue Giannis because it guts the team entirely (and to anyone who thinks, "we'll just go after buyout candidates and stuff," TC's idea of a free agent signing was bringing back Bones Hyland.)
Would I shop Naz or Randle? Absolutely, but mainly because I struggle to see how Naz fits on the court anymore. The stuff we really need out of our backup 4 he doesn't provide. Do I think they're hesitant? Yeah solely because of optics.
Would I shop Donte? Yes, for the same reason I'd shop Naz. Also, give Finch truth serum, he'd rather play Clark all the time. That's his pet project.
If we pursue anyone, it'll be of really low consequence, something that may just cost us Leonard Miller or some 2's. Maybe Rob goes, but like most PG's in that draft, that shine has worn off, so unless you still have Devin Carter or Bub Carrington stock, I don't see much of a fit.
Daniss Jenkins for the Pistons in many ways checks off the boxes of the type of guy we need, but Detroit found him. Time for Tim to find his.

Let's say we trade Naz or Jaden for a very good PG. Does anyone think Ant and Ju would immediately give up their need to be ball dominant and let the new guy run the offense? I don't. Finchy made some preseason comments that he intended Ant and Ju to play more off ball, but I haven't seen any change from last year, and Finchy allows it. That's why I think a coaching change is more in order than trading valuable assets for a starting PG.
Re: Trade season
Zyon Pullin or Tristen Newton could be our Daniss Jenkins. Those two are just killing it for the Iowa squad, but neither are on two-ways.WildWolf2813 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 10:06 pm Unless you're trying to buy low on some distressed player hoping you can uncover the next NAW, trade season is gonna be very dry here.

Re: Trade season
As long as they allow the point guard to calmly bring the ball up to full court pressure before giving it to Ant that would go a long ways. On defense I like the idea of someone that can defend the other teams point guards. I don't like Jaden defending point guards, if you put Ant on a fast point guard it wears him out by the end of the game, and Donte gets hunted on defense.FNG wrote: ↑Wed Nov 26, 2025 8:24 am Let's say we trade Naz or Jaden for a very good PG. Re: Trade season
Right this minute this team feels like a play in team. If we miss the playoffs, the draft is absolutely stacked with good to great point guards. Go the Atlanta two years ago or Dallas route where you lose in the play in jump up in the lottery and we're set.
We probably make the playoffs through that play in though, so Indiana is looking like they will get a top 5 pick in a stacked guard draft. I could see Nembhard becoming available at some point. Plays defense, and has been a playoff riser.
Anthony Black is really coming around in Orlando, Suggs has struggled with staying healthy in the past. Would Orlando be willing to trade one of them? Suggs has a descending contract that would be helpful.
Sacramento isn't playing Keon Ellis much, could he be the next Davion Mitchel taking off on another team?

There never was nor is a reality where those two were gonna be off ball more- the offense has to run through them.FNG wrote: ↑Wed Nov 26, 2025 8:24 am Let's say we trade Naz or Jaden for a very good PG. Regarding a trade, the question is: what problem are we trying to solve? Which requires answering a few questions
1) is this the core roster you want, can you build on it? Is Randle a part of that core? Is Rudy?
2) if the answer to all of those is yes, then are there tweaks the roster needs or will internal development be the answer?
3) if no to question 1, then you need to have a very serious conversation about what the framework of this core needs to be going forward - what does it require to succeed?
4) they need figure out what this year is really about. Are you genuinely going to compete against the top of the league and go for it or is it time to recalibrate and develop, make small but economic moves, and aim for a year or two target.
Everyone wants a point guard and I'm kinda a little perplexed. A real point guard wouldn't have saved them these last few games... They just needed to take them seriously. They get a 10 point lead at the end of games and think it's over! Ant just needed to play better at the end on Phoenix, Randle just needed to play better, McDaniels just needed to play better!
If these guys can't raise there level of commitment, attention to detail and seriousness about their professions... Tyus Jones walking through the door isn't going to change that.
